I'll volunteer two bits of information for you right now, just to get them out of the way. They'll get inconvenient for me later if they ever come up, and I like having control over my situation.

One: I'm capable of making a human being fall over dead like that when my magic is working, which it currently isn't.

Two: If it had been me, not only would I not be telling you this - it's like confessing to anything else straight-out, it's boring! - but none of us would still be in this ugly little building.
