do it for love
[ Every week is the same song and dance, but it never really gets easier, or works, or ever seems like it’s going to stop.
There will be time for everyone to rest before Black comes knocking on their doors (a moot point, given the soundproofedness of them) and slipping a note beneath them. He needed the respite too, and they needed to prepare food, and… he still thinks it’s a little weird to have a party after a trial, but he’s starting to really understand why it’s not a bad idea, either. ]
[Name],
Misa would’ve wanted us to keep a smile on our faces, or at least put a smile somewhere. There’s a pancake bar up in the chapel, if you’d like to come by and make a few happen. If you don't want to come, that's fine, too. The offer's open all night.
Ever yours,
Black
[ …the ending is something he’s never quite shaken, unfortunately.
Those that make their way up to the chapel will, indeed, find a pancake bar, courtesy of Yosuke and Stan (because Black never feels that hungry after trials and someone needs to stress bake here). That is, there are pancakes! There are syrups, whipped cream, fruits, berries, candies, etc! Sprinkles! Hot chocolate, ice cream… everything you could want for your build-your-own-pancake masterpiece. It’s all set up on some tables shoved against the chapel’s walls.
…special Stancakes (or pancakes with a hint of Stan in them, aka some of his hair that might’ve gotten in there accidentally, whoops) are also available.
There’s also alcohol—dessert wines mostly, to pair with their overwhelming sugar bias, but there’s some ordinary stuff there too. Pancake bar.
The framed photos are where they’ve always been on the center area, along with their matching stuffed animals. …or most of them; some haven’t been made, some pictures haven’t been put up, you get the idea. ]

...Still a bit nerve-wracking.
[He can admit that to Sigrun.]

As long as you keep in mind there's people here who've got your back, you can feel however you want. I'd be nervous too if I had something that big on my shoulders.
[... As it is, she's honestly just worn a little thin because of Misa's everything. But that's not something she'll show so publicly.]

[...partially because he really appreciates that she'll break him out of jail if someone tries to confine him.]

It's no problem. Even outside of my leaderly duty [which she hasn't felt twisted up about since she first got it] we're friends. I hope no one's been too nasty to you though? Or else I might give them a talking to.

[He may not consider things like punching him in the face to be out of hand. More like 'completely justified'.]

Sure, sounds good.
[She can't quite settle though; her hands keep making the familiar motion of playing a lyre though it's far down below, but it's nothing she'll satisfy for now.]
You know, I don't think I've ever come here. Always seemed a little weird to me. And now I have to come by with reports for Misa.

[There's a difference between believing in them and believing in them.]
no subject
[So that's her steadfastness there.]
This just isn't the kind of place I'd worship them in. I keep it to my room pretty much all the time, this feels too... I don't know how to put it. It's strange to me, though I know we've got things like it in the old world's cities.

[A funerary pyre like she's been trying wasn't the first thing on her mind, selfishly enough, and she squeezes her hands together tightly. Don't show. Be fine. Slip back into being a leader and deal with yourself later, Sigrun.]
But I don't. If you've got any ideas, I'd welcome it, though... they don't have to be burned, I guess. I actually got something from a school I'm pretty sure Megumi might've worked at that I'm using in her memory, so... Yeah.

[She knows what Misa wants and she'll keep giving them to her. Lynne and Tarrlok need some more thought.]
I can't slack on them though. I'll try making some of that weird stuff Tarrlok liked and for Lynne... [Hmmm.] Think she'd be happy if I helped take up the role of detective in her place? Mouri can't do everything on his own.

[He wasn't much help in the investigating, but at least he was alright at the trial itself.]

[Which is why people keep dying. Despite the thought digging at her, she's still got that smile.]
no subject
[Does he have any hope anymore?]

-- Right? I mean, this happens like clockwork, no changing it. There's always going to be at least one person who's tempted no matter what.
[That's just fact. It... doesn't make her feel better though.]
We just have to do our best to survive despite that.

[It's not a reassuring fact, but it's fact.]

Make sure you get some rest tonight, though I'm sure you'll be up retelling the fantastic stories of your youth to every ear that'll listen.
no subject
Don't think most people want to hear. But I'll be sure to sleep at a reasonable hour.

Good. Use the buddy system if you think you'll get shanked on the way back to your room too, though I'm sure your little bodyguard'll make sure no one gets that close.
[C'mon Yosuke.]
