do it for love
[ Every week is the same song and dance, but it never really gets easier, or works, or ever seems like it’s going to stop.
There will be time for everyone to rest before Black comes knocking on their doors (a moot point, given the soundproofedness of them) and slipping a note beneath them. He needed the respite too, and they needed to prepare food, and… he still thinks it’s a little weird to have a party after a trial, but he’s starting to really understand why it’s not a bad idea, either. ]
[Name],
Misa would’ve wanted us to keep a smile on our faces, or at least put a smile somewhere. There’s a pancake bar up in the chapel, if you’d like to come by and make a few happen. If you don't want to come, that's fine, too. The offer's open all night.
Ever yours,
Black
[ …the ending is something he’s never quite shaken, unfortunately.
Those that make their way up to the chapel will, indeed, find a pancake bar, courtesy of Yosuke and Stan (because Black never feels that hungry after trials and someone needs to stress bake here). That is, there are pancakes! There are syrups, whipped cream, fruits, berries, candies, etc! Sprinkles! Hot chocolate, ice cream… everything you could want for your build-your-own-pancake masterpiece. It’s all set up on some tables shoved against the chapel’s walls.
…special Stancakes (or pancakes with a hint of Stan in them, aka some of his hair that might’ve gotten in there accidentally, whoops) are also available.
There’s also alcohol—dessert wines mostly, to pair with their overwhelming sugar bias, but there’s some ordinary stuff there too. Pancake bar.
The framed photos are where they’ve always been on the center area, along with their matching stuffed animals. …or most of them; some haven’t been made, some pictures haven’t been put up, you get the idea. ]

There's nothing you can do to make up for that. I'd be a fool to think there was.
I've lived peacefully for two hundred years since leaving that life, and I've done what I can for my home, my friends, and my family. That's all I can say in my defense.

[That is it. Mouri is so immensely disappointed. This is not the first time a friend of his ends being a killer, and it is likely it won't be the last, but it is still so frustrating...
The only consolation was that Mouri didn't have to drag the truth out by himself, but that is almost irrelevant]
What, did you suddenly have regrets during Amane-san's trial and decided to tell the truth so it doesn't happen in your last moments of life?!

The people I've killed are dead. I can only protect the people who are still alive, to the best of my ability.

[Fine. Let Mouri take a deep breath here, he is trying to calm down. It takes him a minute to say something else]
I suppose I shouldn't be so surprised. Bates-san, Amane-san, now you. It is as if everyone in this damn place has a trail of blood behind them. For all I know half of us left alive have that same kind of past.
I'm tired of all this.
[Why did he have to get locked here? Couldn't the Kingmaker have chosen someone who doesn't care about people having such ugly pasts?]

We're all tired of this, detective. The most we can do is try to get out of here as soon as possible, so that no one else has to die.

...
Now what? You confessed to everyone. What will happen to you now? Do you even care what will happen now?
[Mouri can't hogtie you and put you behind the shelves in the Arm Room storage or anything like that. He doesn't want to]

...well neither did any other culprit until they killed.
[Mouri shakes his head]
Look, do me a favor and don't talk to me for some time. I don't feel like dealing with this. I just...
[Well there goes this. Mouri has reached his limit, and it isn't like he wants to make an huge scene in a public place, much less when there's a certain teenager staring from a few pews away.
He just wants to go away and calm down.
Maybe he'll talk to you again after a few days]

He understands - or, at least he thinks he does. It sucks. And he's not going to press things.]

Stay safe.
[Killer or not it isn't like he wants Cherryblod to die. Still, there's nothing else he can think of saying, so Mouri just walks away and leaves the afterparty in terrible mood.
He doesn't hate Cherryblod but what is for sure he isn't going to trust Cherryblod ever again]
