There's a good amount of confusion, and rightfully so. After all, aside from the rules in purple listed on the wall, there isn't much to explain how you got here or why you're here. Don't worry though. It seems like you won't be left to your own devices for very long. There's a brief moment of static - not loud enough to be particularly grating, but enough to let you know that something's about to happen - before a voice addresses all of you from somewhere unseen. "Hello. I hope you all slept well. I was a bit worried after..." It sounds like it's coming from somewhere above you. There doesn't appear to be anything it's coming from, however. There's a brief pause before the voice resumes speaking. "I'm sure you all have a lot of questions for me. I don't mind answering them. Before you ask anything, I'd like you to examine the rules again. They're posted in every room." The voice is masculine, but there isn't anything to note about it otherwise. "I am the Kingmaker. Welcome to the Vault."

It's one of the realities I face every time I step outside into the Silent Lands for any extended period of time.

For the latter scenario, we'd just have to make sure we have as much non-perishable foods and clean water as we can carry and then hope there's some place we can take refuge in until we can either sustain ourselves with the local wildlife or with leftover seeds from various fruits and vegetables we might've kept for that purpose.

In the former scenario, we'd just try have to seal it back up somehow, apologize to the maker for misunderstanding his intentions, and live our lives in a community built upon mutual trust and the knowledge that any weird rules are better than the desolation and inevitable death that awaits us out there.

...okay, you made that sound like absolute certain death before but... yes, it's definitely doable. I'd know more about what to do with a frozen wasteland than a desert, admittedly, since I actually grew up in a frozen wasteland.

Granted, it was probably a bit friendlier than the Silent Lands you're talking about, because we had people who could use all the snow lying around to their advantage and there were communities that had adapted over countless generations, but... well, you know.

...and see, that's what I'm having trouble with. I can understand people like me, who have enough enemies that one of them might be crazy enough to want to try this... but what are the teenagers here for?
