Final Investigation.

You've all done very well to make it this far, but it's not over yet. The klaxons blare out today, as they always do – there's no reason they should do any differently, not least of which because it's a Thursday; strange things usually don't happen around here until Fridays, and there's no reason to think that today will be any different. But as soon as you awaken and get a glimpse of what's happening down that first-floor corridor, it becomes very apparent that that's far from the case. The usual rooms on the eastern wing of the first floor are gone entirely, replaced by more of that glossy black that coats the courtroom; it's a little vertigo-inspiring at first, but it's not dangerous. Of more interest, then, is probably those three rooms that seem to be waiting for you – one to the north, two to the south. Choose where you're going to go. Look around for a while. What else are you going to do, after all? >Explore?

[Well, it's time to open up lucky door #3. He turns to look at Stan and Bruce before he opens up the door to peer inside.]

[Lucky door #3 seems to lead into... a library? It sure does look like a library. It's set up like the one that was on the first floor until Weird Shit happened; it's got entirely too many shelves crammed into such a small place, but strangely enough most of the shelves are empty.

There's a door in the southern wall of the room as well.

So what do you all want to look at first?]

[Well, that's.... different.

Gabriel steps inside. Are there any books on the shelves? He'll probably flip through them first, if so.]

[That's just it — you'd expect there to be a lot of books on the shelves, right? Most of them are empty, however. In fact, there's only one book in here. That's kind of a ripoff. What a terrible library.]

[Well, that's.... uh.

Weird.

He'll go on ahead and flip through that book, then.]

[The book is a thick, red ledger-type book and the first page in the book contains four titles in some sort of list:

AMBITIOUS
PRETENTIOUS
VAINGLORIOUS
OBSERVANT]

Hey, come look at this. It's got titles listed on it-- Ambitious, isn't that the title of the ghost the others mentioned?

[So obviously he's going to be looking through to see if there's any information on this mysterious "Ambitious" first.]

I've been wondering for weeks now if this has happened before. Between what Glory said and this, we've got confirmation.

So this would be--what, the fifth iteration?

[Judging from this list alone, anyway.]

There have been some. Er. Interesting people who have won this game, it sounds like.

[He's just going to go ahead and read the information out loud.]

[Well this is certainly... something. Bruce relaxes a little, but he keeps his senses alert in case anything happens.]

Should we split up?

[There's a number of things of interest, after all.]

Sure, but let's not go too far. I don't trust that door.

[In fact, Stan will go jiggle the handle to see if it's open.]

[It isn't. It's locked.

But you'll probably also notice a small device on the wall next to the door that looks like it requires a card key.]

[...well, he also retrieved his purple card keys. Is there a reaction if he scans one of those?]

[trustharder]

[There is! The card reader lights up and there's a click from the door. Sounds like you're good to go!]

...looks like that's what the cards were for.

[Bruce has his own pair that he's found, of course, but it doesn't seem they're for this particular door.

He steps forward first and pushes it open slightly, peering through the gap first to see if there's anybody in there... or anything that could mean danger for them.]

.....I guess it'd make sense for the Kingmaker to hide them away.

[trustharder]

[This room also looks like it was a library of some sort! It's been cleaned out as well; there are some shelves nearby with a few things on it as well as a table with some file folders resting on top.]

...room seems clear.

[After a moment more Bruce moves to open the door fully so that all three of them can enter.

Again, more things to look at.]

Any preference on what you guys want to tackle?

If we do, we should keep in sight of each other, just in case.

[It's not like this is a very big room anyway, so they don't need to worry about that.]
