WEEK 3 As the second week draws to a close, two more have joined the deceased. Christo and Alani are dead, leaving twenty-six of you remaining. It may not seem like very many have died, but their absence will certainly be felt. Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Just like last week, a door in the stairwell has opened, leading you down further into the building; there are more rooms open to you down there - possibly even one that you'll find personally interesting. Go ahead and explore all you like; after all, you did well at completing your lessons this past week. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 26 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 25

Oh right, you guys are programmed for stuff, like plants.

[ Plants are like that... clearly... ]

[....You can do what with plants?]

I guess so.

[ Not... really.... ]

Anyway, this one's my granddaughter! Doesn't she look amazing! She's a real of the Marker clan, I tell you!

[iaspis]

[Jasper examines the drawing of Karin a little more closely.]

She looks a lot like you.

[She sounds surprised, but then again, she's used to Gems of certain types looking nearly identical. Not so much non-Gems.]

[matchbreaker]

Right?!

[ she's so excited, setting down her current drawing!!

Karin does look (mostly) identical ]

She's got good Marker genes! Henry did such a good job!

[iaspis]

[It's a very impressive drawing.]

Who's Henry?

[matchbreaker]

Henry's my son...!

[iaspis]

Your son?

[Well, that makes sense, actually.]

What does he look like?

[matchbreaker]

Oh he's pretty similar looking to his father, actually! He's a tall, proper looking man with a stronger jaw than you'd think and well kept hair. I could try to sketch him.

[ Heheh ]

[iaspis]

I'd like that.

[Elda is good at drawing, so obviously that means it would be interesting to watch, right?]

[matchbreaker]

Alright. You might as well take a seat unless standing never bothers gem legs.

[ That said, she'll set aside the Ren drawing, setting it on top of the one of Karin on the table unless Jasper took that, pull out a fresh seat and adjust her sitting position. She hums a little, closing her eyes to picture her son's face. It'll take a little while, but it soon enough begins to take form. It's worth noting that while her character in drawing Karin and Ren had been more to make them cute than anything, the big thing she's trying to capture with Henry i that he's kind. Despite his stuffy appearance, she goes over the eyes a few times, erasing and correcting to try to get them right. ]

[iaspis]

[She sits down, watching Elda curiously.]

He... looks like a kind man.

[matchbreaker]

He is. [ She confirms, not looking up from how she keeps working on it, touching up the beard... ]

Almost too kind, a lot of the time! He's a bit soft!

[iaspis]

[That sounds unusual, but then again Elda is literally her only exposure to vampires.]

Is that a bad thing, do you think?

[matchbreaker]

Being kind's hardly a bad thing for a man, but... Well, it can get a man into trouble, both with others and in getting walked all over by the woman in your life.

[ She said.

With no hint of irony.

When there really should be. ]

[iaspis]

[....look if it helps her out jasper would be incapable of picking up on the irony of the situation

Ahh, yes I suppose that could be unfortunate.

[matchbreaker]

Exactly! Did you know that my poor boy fell for that shrewish fiancée of his back when they met but it took her ten years to give him the time of day? Ten years! That Calera's really always been a bad seed... But he does love her and James did pick her... so I guess it's worked out.

[ She sighs, touching up his little three pronged bangs thing. ]

[iaspis]

[She laughs quietly.]

I... what is it they say? "All's well that ends well"?

[matchbreaker]

Hopefully, anyway! They have given me two beautiful grandchildren.

[ So Calera's womb is good, at least ]

[iaspis]

That's good.

[she thinks, anyway]

Gems don't have families. It sounds kind of nice, actually.

[It's not something she would have thought a couple weeks ago.]

[matchbreaker]

Oh yeah, not even like the other Jaspers grown at the same time are your sisters?

[ Or something??? ]

[iaspis]

[She shakes her head.]

Not exactly.

We're the same kind of Gem, but that doesn't make us family.

[matchbreaker]

Oh, that's too bad.

[ In face, she even frowns at it... ]

Well, I guess not all space aliens are the same.

[iaspis]

No.

Jaspers are all warriors, but that doesn't mean we have the same personalities.

[But then again this is the only other Jasper who has appeared in the series so far.]

[matchbreaker]

Despite even being grown the same? [ Huh. ]
