WEEK 4.

WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. Or perhaps just more means to get creative with regards to how you take initiative with your fellow Apprentices. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 23 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 22 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 20

[There's a little more to it than that, and he looks away for a moment before continuing.]

I guess you're always up this late, huh?

[ She corrects him, even if this was more end of last week: ]

Kira did. [ A beat ] Hell, by most people's standards, Kimbley probably does too.

...no, the C and Q. If D-team got executed at some point I don't remember it.

[She won't deny that it might have happened in her sleep or something, but she's gonna be an optimist about that.]

[matchbreaker]

It's strange, still, being up during the "day."

[ She has been, in part do to that damn clock, but it's still hard. ]

[ He whips out his phone and... give him a minute or two, he has so many photos on this thing. Eventually he finds what he's looking for and holds it up for Guzma to look at - it's a picture of a small yellow butterfly sitting on the back of Viktor's hand. ]

Well, yeah, I figured. But you know. I'm at least hoping Mercy got a shot or two in before everything. I wanna assume someone gets to break rule five.

...anyway, being careful. Yeah. That... goes for you too. I guess I barely have to say it, but...

[He shakes his head, not really wanting to continue.]

And all of this is over one day, right? After some whacko took over the fake-Mars thing that you infiltrated because of your tarot-card reading boss in order to save the world.

Well, Akane actually doesn't do that kind of thing to see the future but the idea's the same.

...I didn't mention she's on C-team, did I...

[quadruples]

What a cruel woman you are... [ A dramatic sigh. ] But I guess I had it coming. ...Why are you naked, anyway?

[matchbreaker]

Because I thought I'd enjoy the water and all the fabrics on those suits look all wrong.

[ She seems to laugh at that cruel woman thing, with no small bit of pride. Her hair is going everything - she should have tied it up, probably ]

And I figured no one would be up now! What about you?

[feistytrader]

...We can't tell the difference in here. Why don't you just pretend it rings at seven at night and again at ten in the morning?

[This is a kind of bad solution, but there isn't much else they can do about it at the moment.]

[matchbreaker]

No.

[ . . . ]

Okay so your friend-boss-whatever's killed in one of these.

[matchbreaker]

Yeah we can, the lights are a little dimmer at night.

[ It's a placebo effect, basically. ]

Well, Zero claimed she does, but she's still alive in 2074 so that can't be right.

[Not to mention the entire reason she got back from then.]

Couldn't she just be alive in the future in one of those timelines where everything works out better but dead in another one? Or doesn't it work like that?

[ This is way too scifi for her. ]

You turn your lights up brighter during the day, not at night.

[matchbreaker]

If this was my manor we wouldn't even have all these lights.

Impossible. The 2074 I saw has to follow from the timeline where I escaped.

Look, I'll be fine. My bed at home's bigger, but I end up pushed to one side or another by my Pokemon anyway.
