WEEK 4.

WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. Or perhaps just more means to get creative with regards to how you take initiative with your fellow Apprentices. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 23 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 22 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 20

[You bet he's looking up. And as soon as he sees that look on Varric's face, he instantly feels guilty.]

Varric, I-

[And then Mugetsu pops up to investigate. Friend or foe????]

[You're grounded kid.]

[Anything Varric might have actually had to say died on his lips at the sight of the creature. He reached around his back instinctively, searching for Bianca, but stopping short. It didn't look to be too much of a threat, and yet...]

The hell is going on here, Goldie?

Well, um...

[Nothing he can say is going to make this better, is it? So he might as well go with the 'surprise him and maybe he will forget about being mad' option.

Watanuki scoots Mugetsu into one of his open palms, and then he holds him out for Varric to see.]

This is Mugetsu. He's a friend of mine.

Your friend is... [A small fennec? An apparent pain in his ass? Responsible for the 10 years just taken off of his life.]

He seems real nice, Goldie. [And now came the paternal crossing of the arms over the chest.] Want to tell me why I heard you screaming for your life?

He, er...he kinda jumped on my face as soon as he came out of the vending machine. I didn't even know it was him at first.

[If it helps, Mugetsu looks just as apologetic as Watanuki does?]

He didn't mean any harm though, I promise! He's probably been stuck in this thing for a few weeks and was just happy to get out.

[Aaaand a sigh escaped him, taking with it all of the frustration he'd carried for the event. No sense in continuing to hold it against him. Especially with both guilty parties looking the way they did.]

Makes me wonder if they could hid a whole human in there. Think Hawke might come tumbling out?

Maybe if she can fit through that opening there.

[Watanuki is standing up now, Mugetsu riding on his shoulders.]

Or if she could fit into one of those pokeballs.

Hawke is a talented woman but... not that talented. [Surprisingly, Varric spoke with a fond smile. Better than all the emotional grumblings of the previous weeks.] Maybe my brother though? Wouldn't that be a blighted mess.

If he's like you, then we might have heard his hollering from inside before now.

[Maybe if he makes a joke, things will lighten up a bit more.]

Oh, that's for sure. Probably lots of blaming me too. [Achievement Unlocked: Laughing Dwarf Acquired!]

[Shit yeah achievements~]

All the booze bottles in there would be empty too.

[Aaaand there's a grimace. A playful one, but a grimace nonetheless.]

Blighted Bartrand... He would, too.

[SPEAKING OF DRINKING and to get off the topic of corrupted brothers for a moment.]

Mugetsu here likes alcohol too. Maybe we should have a night to show him all the alcohol the bar has?

[Watanuki will be good and not partake this time, too.]

That thing? It drinks? [Suddenly he's a hell of a lot more endearing to him than before.]

I think you're right -- we need to integrate our newest student into our dear university.

[foundfate]

Yeah, he likes that drink I gave you before. Sake, remember? But I bet he would try other things.

But let's at least wait until after dinner.

[neverheardofhim]

You're no fun. I bet he wants to drink now. [He looked to the creature.] Don't you, little guy?

[foundfate]

[Mugetsu nods his head vigorously in response, and he tries to jump over to Varric's shoulder, but Watanuki catches him.]

Dinner first, then booze.

[The dwarf fixed an apologetic look on the sentient piece of lint. He'd have to try and get the thing alone, away from the positive influence that Goldie appeared to be on him.]

What's for dinner then, kid?

[That would actually be easy to do, Mugetsu is one to go off on his own sometimes.]

Donburi, if you're not tired of Japanese food yet.

[To be fair, he's rarely made the same dish twice since they've all been there (excluding the eternal Katsudon for Viktor), so it's not like they're eating exactly the same thing every day. But Watanuki does know that people can get tired of eating food that's different from what they're used to. Watanuki himself would go crazy if he had to eat hamburgers and pizza every day.]

[Good. They'll have a stag night yet, little guy.]

Not a problem at all. [It wasn't the kind of food he was used to, but Watanuki was a good cook. He also doubted that anyone here would be able to cook up a dish from the Free Marches or something from Orlais. Besides, he wouldn't complain about free food.]
