WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. Or perhaps just more means to get creative with regards to how you take initiative with your fellow Apprentices. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 23 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 22 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 20

It's not like it's some lofty goal like saving the world. It's...a lot more personal than that.

I wasn't expecting it to be. [That's neutral. Not judgmental.] Most reasons one would want to try something again...they tend to be personal.

I know mine is.

...So what's yours, then?

[It's blunt, but it's impersonal - not like he's trying to be a dick to her, just wondering.]

[It's actually kind of...nice to be asked about it like that? Huh.]

I want to save my descendant, who keeps dying. ...It's in some ways selfless, but not entirely. If she dies for good, then I've lost the only person I've been able to talk with in a thousand years. ...Before here, at least.

[alchemicals]

But you're not going to try for it this week.

[oyashiromama]

[She shakes her head.]

I've...already a way to try again, in some sense. And I know, through that, that having just one attempt would end in failure. What the Wordsmith offers... It's nothing foolproof.

[alchemicals]

Yeah. Yeah, I know it's not.

Mine isn't to save anyone, either. I guess it would have that effect, if I do what I want. But...

[He shakes his head.]

I've got someone I need to kill back home. I don't care about what happens after that, he just needs to die.

And if you had a...second chance, you believe you could kill him easier. Is that it?

If I had a second chance, knowing what I do now, I would kill him from the start. He's no match for me and we both know it.

What did he do? ...If you don't mind my asking.

...Let's say that he reminds of me of Kira in a lot of ways.

[He doesn't seem too inclined to elaborate beyond that, but you can imagine, surely.]

I'm still not too sure what I think about that whole thing. Jasper and Sportacus kind of talked me down from a lot of the stuff I was saying during the trial, but...I don't know.

In what way? [...] You said a lot, during all of that, so...I don't want to assume.

They got kind of weird at me for saying it's all right if I die and all that, among some other things.

...Oh. ...I can understand their concerns, but also... Do you want to...discuss it more? What's got you unsure?
