WEEK 6 With the deaths of Viktor Nikiforov, Varric Tethras, and Killia, you're down to half of your original number. There's only fifteen of you left. How much longer before your number drops again? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Of course, that doesn't mean that you've gained nothing else among the many, many losses you've faced; it seems that another floor has been made available to you for surviving another week. [ She snaps this at him, releasing the final bit of secret confetti from between her fingers. Her fangs are bared and she's ... well.

She looks very, very cranky. And stressed. ]

[feistytrader]

Fine. Then don't. But you look upset about something, so that's why I asked.

[...He's pretty damn calm about all of this.]

[matchbreaker]

[ She... ]

Well what did you remember, boy? Be fair.

[feistytrader]

The world is still ending and my dad's dying in my arms while we fight off the ruler of the distortion world.

... I had returned from punishing the Brownlicks. Anju gave me a good luck charm [ (... Orihime had that, didn't she?) ] and Henry told me he had something secret and serious to discuss with me.

[feistytrader]

...What was it?

[What the hell did he say that pissed her off so much?]

[matchbreaker]

I don't know.

Do you think it's about your secret?

[matchbreaker]

It has to be, I-- It has to be. I'm certain of it.

[ Because of her memory from last week. ]

[feistytrader]

...So what's the big deal?

[He knows exactly what the big deal is. It's Elda. At the same time, he wants to hear it in her words.]

[matchbreaker]

[ Elda's face contorts. Her fears? This boy is asking her to give them voice, huh? Well, he read the damn secret. She doesn't even know what to make of it. Erasing Karin's memories of her family? Letting her live as a human? ]

... My granddaughter's an abnormal vampire. Somehow. Some way.

[feistytrader]

In a way that could let her live as a human, I'm assuming.

[Elda said she was a really late bloomer, didn't she?]

[matchbreaker]

Yes.

[ Could she be a damned halfbreed? But she looks so much like her, there's no way she's a result of Calera's affair. And she saw the woman pregnant with Karin, back then when she was playing with little Ren...

It makes no sense ]

[feistytrader]

Would she want to live like a human?

[...He doesn't think there's anything wrong with that, really, but this is a more important question.]

[matchbreaker]

[ Elda snaps.

In one movement she lunges forward, intending to grab him by the collar of whatever shirt he has on because in case her forgot ]

Not enough to forget her family! There's no way!

[feistytrader]

Maybe, maybe not.

[He doesn't react all that much to Elda grabbing him at this point. Maybe he really should, because there's no one here to protect him, and Mikazuki isn't about to bust in and save him again. At the same time, he doesn't.]

But no matter what happened, you know better than anyone how difficult it is being a vampire, right? It might be painful, but I don't think it's wrong trying to give someone you love a better opportunity than you.

[matchbreaker]

No! No, no, no! It-- Anything that's hard about being a vampire is because of the damned humans! And none of that, none of that is worth us abandoning her!

[ . . . Oh wait she didn't mean to say that.

But she sure is shaking Silver now ]

[feistytrader]

You don't know if you abandoned her or not.

[He's not protesting to the shaking much, though.]

[matchbreaker]

The damn secret said her memory got erased! What else could that mean?!

[ She's flailing now, still sort of. Yeah more shaking ]

[feistytrader]

Did it say why? Did it say you abandoned her? Do you think the Wordsmith would've left that out if you did?

[matchbreaker]

... But so what if that's a good point?

she stops shaking him, but she bites her lip, looking very, surprisingly for a moment vulnerable. ]

What's wrong with her...

[feistytrader]

[...Well, he'll grab her hands, at least; not to stop her from hurting him, but so she's a little less alone.]

Sometimes people are just different. It doesn't mean you love them any less.

[matchbreaker]

[ She needed to not dwell on it, even if she is comforted by his hands, loosening her grip ]
