Week 3.

WEEK 3 Another week has passed; two more Survivors are gone. Pearl and Caren both had someone to fight for, someone worth killing for; perhaps it's for the best to hope that somehow they've found peace despite not being able to collect on the Kingmaker's incentive. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. That doesn't mean the night passed easily, though - it seems another piece of your personal puzzle may have fallen into place while you slept... Following that spiral staircase up to the second floor will reveal something strange; those stairs definitely lead far higher than you remember, up to a previously inaccessible third floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done. SURVIVORS REMAINING: 23

Hey.

[His voice is soft - not that he's ever been loud at any time, but since its already quiet anyway there's no reason for him to raise his voice.

Bruce straightens up and slowly walks towards Mettaton, a small smile on his face.]

I guess you have an actual room to do your entertainment things now.

It looks that way, doesn't it!

[Granted, the way that they got it should probably bother him, but it seems that he's not going to look a gift horse in the mouth tonight.]

The acoustics in here are really great, too, and the stage isn't bad; I was looking that over earlier.

[amygdalae]

[The way they got anything at all honestly is one big bother by itself, but Bruce... tries not to dwell on that. It's not as if it will get him anywhere for now.]

Thinking of organizing a show anytime soon?

I've been asked to a few times! It's just hard to get anything organized, with all the...

[...trauma? imminent threats of death? ...inability to tell who's going to be an idiot and challenge somebody to a fucking deathmatch at any given time?]

...Well. The environment is providing some technical difficulties.

[Well, Bruce can't say he's surprised to hear that.]

Maybe you could try something simpler? There's not that many of us anyway, so maybe a smaller thing would be easier to organize. I'd be willing to help.

[Not that... he has much of an idea what to do but Mettaton should know, right?]

Well! We'll see, sweetheart, but I'd like that.

[After all, it's entirely possible that there will be another motive eventually, and that might shoot everything to hell.

But that's not the most pleasant of thoughts, is it.]

What are you doing out so late, anyway - difficulty sleeping?

[amygdalae]

[He quirks a small smile at the response, although it fades a little at the question, and Bruce shakes his head slightly.]

A little, I suppose. [Not that him and sleep ever had a good relationship, even with the comfortable beds. Being trapped in here and having... all these things happen doesn't really stop the usual things he already has to deal with.] It's par of the course though - don't worry about it.

[There are a few things that he can think of to say to that; in the end, he just shrugs a little.]

If you say so! It's not like I'm going to complain about the company.

[amygdalae]

I do appreciate yours.

[Honestly, he does - Mettaton perhaps looks at things differently, but sometimes that is what helps Bruce to feel a little better. His near eternal enthusiasm is rather soothing when he feels especially crushed by everything that's going on around him.]

It's what I'm here for! It's part of my purpose in the Underground, after all - don't get me wrong, I love the fame and the adoration, and entertaining is what I live for. But in situations that...aren't the greatest, people need things like that.

[It hits him, vaguely, that Caren hadn't really understood that - that she likely would just dismiss all of that as senseless "playing around", that she wouldn't get that sometimes people in dire situations need to indulge in mindless things so they don't lose their damn minds.]

So if there's ever anything I can do for you, let me know, all right?

[amygdalae]

[Bruce can easily understand what Mettaton is getting at - it reminds him of all the places he had been; the war zones, the forgotten villages and places where no relief effort comes to, the places plagued with endless disease. In those places somehow people always shine the brightest there, and he remembers the bits of entertainment that they put up. Children dancing around a fire, men and women playing simple drums and handmade instruments. Simple things but yet they helped to bring so much joy, if only for a while.

It takes a second, but Bruce nods at the offer, giving him a smile.]

I will. And I'll extend the same offer back in return, too.

Of course! But you don't have to worry about me, darling - I'm good at being all right when I have to be.

[He's very good at being Fine; people have noticed.]

It looks like a lot of us are like that here - keeping our heads up no matter what, trying to keep hope alive! It's inspiring.

[amygdalae]

[Bruce has certainly noticed, but it doesn't stop him nonetheless. If anything, it makes him try even more.]

I think it helps all of us to keep our spirits up. [A small nod.] This place is depressing enough as it is.

[ratingspoint]

It really is! So there's not much point in contributing to all the darkness and misery.

As long as we can keep that spark alive, we'll come through it. One way or another.

[amygdalae]

Indeed. If everyone gives up, then all that we've done will be for naught.

[And the deaths would be meaningless. So they have to push on.]

[ratingspoint]

Exactly! That's exactly it.

You keep that in mind too, all right?

[amygdalae]

I will.

[He quirks a small smile again. He knows this, but it's good to be reminded of it - it helps to keep himself in perspective.]
