WEEK 3 Another week has passed; two more Survivors are gone. Pearl and Caren both had someone to fight for, someone worth killing for; perhaps it's for the best to hope that somehow they've found peace despite not being able to collect on the Kingmaker's incentive. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. That doesn't mean the night passed easily, though - it seems another piece of your personal puzzle may have fallen into place while you slept... Following that spiral staircase up to the second floor will reveal something strange; those stairs definitely lead far higher than you remember, up to a previously inaccessible third floor. [nods sharply] The only good reason there is. Any other time, I, I'd call them right away, I swear.

[Well Norman sure looks sure about that. Mouri sighs]

Alright. I'll promise you I won't call the police when we're out of here.

[psychoh]

Alright. [he pauses, thinking about the best way to say it. decides that just going and saying it would bet best.]

My mother killed someone. [... wow, that actually feels pretty great! like a weight off his shoulders. it's what makes him continue.] Again.

[It takes Mouri a moment to respond. He blinks owlishly a couple times before turning his head around.

No surprise Norman didn't want the police to be called. A momma's boy like him wouldn't want that mother to be locked away, even if she killed...more than once]

I see. Are you completely sure about what you just said? I mean, is there no possibility you are mistaken and she is actually innocent?

[psychoh]

[nods again]

There's... We're alone, out there. It can't be anyone else.

[sleepingkogoro]

...that is a problem.

And you dreamed that. It's no wonder you are despairing.

Don't worry too much yet. These dreams may not be over yet, maybe in a future dream you'll know how this is going. Who knows, maybe she was judged innocent, if the case somehow already reached the police's attention.

[psychoh]

... It won't. I'm, uh, I'm gonna make sure of that. I know I will. I always do. [it won't be any different than any of the other times. he knows that now.]

[Norman has been an accomplice to murder. It wasn't just staying silent, it was actively hiding the body.

Mouri actually takes a moment to think his words before responding]

So you are hiding the bodies, aren't you? Any chance, uh, you won't cover up again in the future for, uh, those deaths?

[Boy does he regret promising not to say anything to the police]

[psychoh]

It's easy enough; we live far from everything, and n-nobody ever seems to come looking... Poor girls...

[pauses, frowns.] Wh-What do you mean by that?

[sleepingkogoro]

I mean, is there any possibility you will stop...protecting your mother's sins? Because that can't keep happening forever. It never does.

It'd be good to stop by your own decision and not because something out of your control happens.

[psychoh]

[he seems sincerely confused by the question.]

What, what else could I possibly do? Just... Just let them take her away? I can't. It'd kill her... I'd...

[sleepingkogoro]

I'm not saying to let them take her away.

[Calm down, Norman! Mouri got here to check what was causing you so much despair, not to intensify it]

But maybe instead of covering up her crimes you could try to do something to stop them from happening. There must be a reason why she is committing murder, try to find out what it is and do something about that.

[psychoh]

She's just, um... She's sick, in the mind. There's nothing I can do-- I watch her, but I, I can only be there so often...

... There's nothing I can do to stop her. [he says, like he's said it quite often before.]

[sleepingkogoro]

...damn it, this is complicated.

Still, she can't keep doing that forever. At some point she will have to stop and everything should be fine. Don't give up yet, Norman-kun. Stay by her side.

[And for the next few days Mouri mulled how the hell to deal with Norman's situation because like hell he is going to stand aside and let that continue]

[psychoh]

... Y'know, that did help. A little. [it's still a completely hopeless situation but at least it's not eating him alive anymore!] Thanks.

Hahah, it was nothing, Norman-kun. This place may have been designed to destroy your hopes, so it's up to everyone to keep an eye on each other.

I'm sure you'd do the same if somebody else needed somebody to listen.

[psychoh]

I'd hope I would. Everyone's been so nice to me, I'd want to, uh, return the favor.

I'll keep that potential offer in mind, then.
