romance and murder go so well together
[ If the colorful posters from Tuesday weren't enough, Yato has redoubled his efforts for today and slapped these up all over the place:

We are admittedly not entirely sure what the heck the catgirl is there for, but she's there. Anyway, in the dining hall this evening, Aqua and Yato have set things up for a group dinner!! All the food is being put on one table; the rest of the room is for mingling and is colorfully decorated in a way that suggests that Yato went wild in the art room at some point and decided what we all really need in our lives is more color and more glitter!!
There's also this piece of paper with everybody's names on it in pairs, and sets of questions (red tab at the bottom of the spreadsheet). That's right, your mystery game is speed-dating and Yato is here to be your cupid for the evening!! ]

The speed-dating thing, though...that throws him off quite a bit. He never really thought about dating back home, let alone in a murder vault. So he's going to awkwardly read those questions over and...look for Mouri and Lynne, he supposes...
He's also approachable for questions from others or random chitchat!]

[ Yato, being the classy individual he is, shoves a sugar cookie in his mouth and then decides it's time to get to ask away... before he even gets an answer...
He swallows the food first, at least. ]
Hmm, how about this one! "If you were going to become a close friend with your partner, please share what would be important for him to know."
no subject
[Well at least Colress was going to be fine with it! So he listens carefully to the question, and stares with a look of concentration for a moment before answering.]
I suppose...to begin, it is difficult for me to make time for such things as I am very dedicated to my work. So I may not be able to spend as much time with them as they may want.
I realize it does not promote the closest of friendships, but this is how it has always been for me.

[ .... But he hasn't lost hope here yet! After a pause, he smiles in the "haha bad ideas incoming" sort of way. ]
That must means you should find somebody who's just as dedicated to the same thing as you are!
no subject
[Not that he blames anyone here for finding everything about his world weird, but even back home, it was difficult to explain his work to the trainers he met.]
no subject
[ Somebody's watched a few dramas in his time... ]
no subject
[With a smile,]
That was some rather impressive insight on your part.
no subject
[ Total lies, he just watches TV sometimes. ]
Anyway, now it's your time! Hit me with a good question.
no subject
[He still has a hard time comprehending the ages of some of you people! Hundreds and thousands of years! How.
Colress glances at the questions to refresh his memory, making sure he picks from a different set than Yato.]
How about this? "What is the greatest accomplishment of your life?"
[He really likes hearing about personal goals and the like.]

Colress-san, we're paired but let me tell you I have no interest in dating you.
[That was direct to the point. Mouri is a married man, he isn't going to be unfaithful - even if his wife is living away for the moment and has been like that for ten years or so]
no subject
[Despite Mouri's bluntness, Colress keeps his calm composure.]
That is quite all right- I feel similarly. However, would you still like to do some of these questions anyway? If I am to be honest, you're still something of an enigma to me.
[Well, apart knowing how he tends to operate during investigations and trials.]

[It is like an interview, and being famous as Sleeping Kogoro does mean he's pretty used to interviews. What's one more?]
no subject
[He glances over the questions from the first set, and lands on something particularly interesting to him.]
How about this one? "If you could wake up tomorrow having gained any one quality or ability, what would it be?"
no subject
Mind-reading! So many things would be easier if one could know what the other person were thinking, especially in my job. If only that were possible!
no subject
An excellent choice. If you can believe it, I too wish for something like that from time to time. It would certainly make both of our jobs much easier.
[And since Mouri brought up his job,]
Have you dealt with any surprisingly difficult cases, then? I imagine the ones here are a different sort of their own...
no subject
It's good there are people who work to counter anything they can think or there'd be serious trouble.
[Just...don't ask him to tell you some because he can't remember the true methods and results due to, um, being knocked out when it's time to reveal all that. 98% of the time]

It sounds like you have some sharp detectives on your team! It helps of course, since it also sounds like you deal with some sharp criminals.
If you had your entire team here with you, do you think they would be able to figure out the situation? This really is one big case, when you think about it.

You look pretty awkward, but I'll cheer you right up and make this the best experience you've ever had. Is your family warm and cozy? And do you think you had a good childhood compared to like, anyone ever.
no subject
[Well this sure is a bombardment! Colress can't help but mentally recoil for a second before considering those questions.]
I'm afraid I haven't spoken to my family in quite some time, but it's...fine, I suppose? My childhood was likewise fine. It probably does not surprise you, but I was also rather studious in my youth. I was able to foster my curiosity, so I do consider myself fortunate in that regard.

It is hard for anything to be boring when Pokemon is your main field of study. They are endlessly mysterious and equally as fascinating.

[Well that's going to need to be explained, Sigrun.]

[Until they look like actual brains. This is why Mettaton and her are still friends, her monsters are Different.]
no subject
[Sometimes he forgets that Mettaton's world is mostly monsters, considering his own humanoid appearance. He does wonder what those monsters are like...]
I would not say Pokemon are brainless, though one key detail is that we cannot directly communicate with them. They understand us, but we cannot fully comprehend their own speech. It is one of the truly lamentable things about our relationship with them.
