Week 4.

WEEK 4

And as the third week in the Vault comes to a close and the fourth week begins, the Survivors are once again down by two. Mion Sonozaki died on her own terms, and Yato died fulfilling his duty as God of Fortune in the best way that he knew how; the shrine built in the game room on Saturday stands in their memory.

Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not...

Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible fourth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; even if the Kingmaker sounded a bit unhappy with you last weekend, the fact remains that you're still doing what you seem to have been brought here to do.

bloodisthicker: yeah but what are we going to do with all that melon juice? (pinky are you thinking what i'm thinking)

...Well, you can generally tell when animals are feeling upset about something or they don't like something, so I guess people would be able to tell if it actually harmed Pokemon.

[...it still seems kind of weird to him, but if it works, it works...]

Right. The only obvious telltale sign is during the process of capturing a Pokemon. If it breaks free from the Pokeball, then it is not yet content to stay inside and call the Trainer its...well, Trainer.

[He's just opening can of worms after can of worms isn't he.]
bloodisthicker: you mean you don't dig blatant power grabs (oh...)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2016-03-29 11:57 am (UTC)(link)
...so, wait, you just... try to shove them in those things until they agree to go with you, then?

We also battle them beforehand. But that goes without saying.

But for the most part, yes.

[...It's fine.]
bloodisthicker: but i'm still not reopening your arena (that's rough buddy)

[personal profile] bloodisthicker 2016-03-31 12:32 am (UTC)(link)
...so they're... a bunch of super-powered animals that need to be defeated in honorable combat before they'll agree to fight for you.

Yes, that is exactly right. You catch on quick!

[That was not intended to come off as sarcastic...

He really is happy when people get it.]

...You know, I don't really know what I expected from Pokemon, but it wasn't that.
pokexplorer: (❖ pleased)

[That actually brings up a really good question!]

Might I ask what you did expect? At least, you had to have had a vague impression from my descriptions, right? I am truly curious.

Something... a little more like the animals back home, perhaps? They're not unintelligent by default or anything, but I wouldn't exactly call them a noble warrior race or anything.

Ah, I do recall our conversation about that a few weeks back, actually.

If it helps, the entire Pokemon culture isn't centered around just battle. Many who have Pokemon simply keep them as pets, or ask for their talents for other things such as contests, movies, and everyday work. It was the combined efforts of humans and Pokemon working together that helped shape Unova, after all!
bloodisthicker: this is my likable face (here's lookin' at you kid)

Oh, I see. Well, that does sound... really nice, actually. I can't say it sounds much different than the average animal from my vantage point, but I'm sure it's definitely much different in action.

Hopefully I'll get to experience that at some point, then.
