It does. "The human whose name is written in this note shall die." Those are the rules. "If the cause of death is written within the next 40 seconds, it will happen. If the cause of death is not specified, the person will simply die of a heart attack."

Misa-Misa uses this to be the Second Kira. This and her special Eyes, of course, but she doesn't have those here.

And I killed Tarrlok because Misa-Misa thought no one would think the smallest person would be able to kill the biggest person. Simple as that. Lynne was a witness, and Misa-Misa didn't want to kill her, but, it was easier that way, and you were all going to die if I got away with it regardless.

But I didn't have time to write a cause of death for Lynne, so I just wrote "Lynne - Men's Sauna" and let the Death Note do the rest.

So she went all the way up there with her own two feet and died of a heart attack.

If a shinigami writes a name in the Death Note, normally it takes the human's remaining life and it adds it to theirs. ...But if a god of death kills for the sake of another person, it does the opposite and kills the god of death.

Misa-Misa was attacked by a stalker at knifepoint. She was so scared...but Gelus, the god of death who fell in love with me...he killed that stalker and saved my life. And he left me this notebook, too, so I could help Kira, the man who avenged my parents death...

It's the most beautiful way I can think of to die.
