Friday morning dawns in much the same way it usually does in this place: with klaxons blaring and a sense of unease settling over the Vault. As much as people put their best efforts toward trying to discourage anything from happening on Thursday nights with parties and get-togethers, Fridays really don't have a good track record around here. But initially, things actually seem rather quiet; the first and second floors are remarkably free of blood and corpses today. Unfortunately, the third floor might not have fared so well. >Explore?

[Mouri cracks his knuckles. It was time to get serious. Supposing Bruce is going to deal with the cause of death examination, it is time for Mouri to deal with everything else.

First than all, he wants to see if there are defensive wounds. Aqua wouldn't go down without a fight, he is sure of that]

[There are definitely defensive wounds, along with a lot of other minor injuries - it looks like she's really bruised up, actually. It definitely seems like she got into a fight before she went down.

It's also a lot easier to see those defensive wounds, given that she isn't in her default outfit this morning.]

Well done, Aqua. I knew you wouldn't let yourself be killed so easily.

[Mouri is proud of you. But the outfit is something to note. Is there something noteworthy about it other than...it not being the default outfit?]

[It's her outfit from the masquerade, as opposed to one of the jumpsuits. The simple but pretty dress she made. She's also got one of the gold bracelets from the machine on her right wrist.]

[The outfit from the masquerade. That's...a curious thing to be wearing randomly during the night. That could be important.

Note to himself: check the laundry rooms to see if it was just that Aqua's normal outfit needed to be washed.

Finally, there's one more thing about the body he wanted to check: the hands. Anything that could show she could have managed to injure the culprit, or used something that could be useful for that?]

[She doesn't seem to have any weapons on her, no, and she doesn't have any hair between her fingers or skin under her nails or anything. She's just really bruised up.]

[Speedwagon's probably not going to be back in this room for a while, once all this is settled. But he is here now. That's going to count for something.

Bruce is probably inspecting the body, time to look around the general area for signs of a struggle.]

[Good idea, Speedwagon, and there are - ...lord, there are so many signs of a struggle in here. We are looking at a bunch of upended instruments, basically - a lot of them have been pushed aside or knocked over, some of them have been straight-up broken.]

[Alright. That is... that's good. Aqua clearly didn't go down without a fight. He'd expect no less from a protector of worlds like her. It might make him feel a little better when he thinks about it.

But it doesn't.

Music rooms are usually filled to burst with instruments, it has to be pretty easy to knock a couple over, especially in a fight. What instruments were straight up broken?]

[...The piano is okay outside of covered in blood, if that's what you're asking.

Most of the others seem to be randoms that were just in the general vicinity of said piano when things went down.]

[OKAY if they ever need to serenade someone, they can still do that.

God what a mess. Is there anything noticeable among the strewn instruments? Could they be so lucky that someone might drop something at a crime scene?]

[Unfortunately not. There does seem to have been something dropped near the piano, though, while we're checking the floor.]

Well let's check that out then! What could this possibly be?]

[It looks like one of the toolkits from first-floor storage. It's fully-stocked, though, nothing's missing from it; it's just on the floor and partially under the piano.]

[...Oh. Well at least they won't have to fix the piano with it.

Is there any blood on the toolkit?]

[...after that moment Bruce manages to regain himself, although its clear that this loss is affecting him probably just as much as King did. Both of them, now dead...

They didn't deserve this at all.

...he will mourn her later. For now... he needs to help solve this. For her sake.

He's gentle as he moves first to brush away her hair in order to check her head for any signs of injury. There is blood, after all, so again the probability of there being an injury is high.]

[...Well, given that she's looking to the side, the immediately visible side of her head isn't too damaged all things considered.

...You might, um. Want to be careful in turning her head to check the other side, though.]

[...oh. Is this another case of a broken neck we're seeing here?

Either way, yes, he make sure to be... gentle.]

[No, it's...it's more "that sure did used to be Aqua's skull, all right."

It looks like the right side of her head was smashed in with extreme prejudice. Her face is...okay, but starting from the temple back, it's. It's really not pretty.]

That is some serious damage. ...reminds Bruce a bit too much of the Other Guy, honestly.

He will try his best to get a better idea of the wound, somehow. Is there any possible way to find the point of impact? Like is there a point where the... injury is deeper than the rest, or something.]

[You can find a point of impact! ...You can find several points of impact, actually...

Looks like she was hit multiple times.]

[Oh boy. Somebody really wanted her dead, for some reason...

But why...? He just can't imagine...

No time to ponder on that now.

Going to examine the injury closer now. Any kind of shape or imprint of the weapon that he can make out from the impacts? He'll also be checking the blood on her head to see if its dry or wet to better determine the time of this... incident.]

[The shape is actually hard to discern, though it looks like some places either took a harder hit than others or are otherwise reasonably shallow puncture wounds - not like she was stabbed in the head with a knife or something, more like whatever hit her probably had a sharper edge to it on one side.

Most of the blood is dry; while there's a decent amount of it on the keys, though, there isn't nearly enough there considering that she had her head turned toward the piano. There's some, but not nearly as much as you'd expect from a combination of a literally skull-crushing injury and gravity doing the rest from the way she ended up.]
