Week 9.

WEEK 9 For the first time since your stay in the Vault began, no one died this week. That doesn't mean there weren't casualties among you, however – namely, trust, interpersonal relationships, and comfort in the group dynamic as a whole. Hopefully no one else pays the price for it. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. You're safe for now – unless your dreams have told you otherwise... SURVIVORS REMAINING: 10

Investigating...?

[Monday is better then the last few days have been. His dream Sunday had shown him, his friends, once again doing the impossible.

'I'm not as talented as Yu, but as long as I have friends who accept me for who I am... I'm gonna stick with it!'

God, he sounded so young. If the profiles were right this was only a few months ago now, he thinks. But... that Yosuke sounds so different from him now- but his words nestle deep in his heart.

The morning is routine now: breakfast, shrine (now in the chapel), and then the day's business.

Yosuke spends most of the day in the game room. First, pulling out the character sheets he found before- going over them in detail one last time before the meeting. Looking for any hints at the players real identities before taking to the meeting for the others to look over.

After the meeting in the afternoon he returns with supplies in hand- the showa radio he got from Cherryblod, both sets of headphones, pliers, electrical tape. To the passerby he seems to be fixing Blooky's phones, the radio on and his old phones plugged into it. Occasionally switching it out for the black pair to see if his repairs are working. The radio only plays empty static air of course... but he does occasionally change the 'station' as he works, as if listening for something.

He has a few books with him from the library, and once he has the headphones as patched as they can be he has some cards splayed out in a obviously intentional way. Yu had told him, once, that their arcana were the basis of playing cards now- and the book he found gave a pretty good conversion chart and basic how to.

Yosuke isn't sure he believes in that kinda thing, but it's something to do with his hands while he listens to the static, still shifting the frequency once and awhile, listening for anything new in the hissing white noise.]

[Cherryblod's glad to see that the headphones are looking better when he enters the game room, but something else catches his attention.]

Tarot cards?

[He looks up and grins]

Well, playing cards, but yeah. Apparently modern cards are based on tarot?

Didn't know that. Do you do readings?

Not exactly- but back home, our Persona apparently are connected to the major arcana. Like, I'm the Magician. So I read a little about it. Not enough to actually use them though so-

[He gestures to the book]

The Magician's a nice one. It's about taking action and focusing on a goal - knowing what you're doing and why, having power, that sort of thing. Suits you.

I only really know the major ones offhand, but you have a book, so I could probably do a reading for you if you like.

Whoa, really? That'd be really cool. Here, I marked all the cards and everything on this little paper.

[Cuz you can't expect Yosuke to memorize this shit, are you insane?]

[Apologies for not getting back to this last week, everything happened so much -

Basically, though, the character sheets are all really awkwardly-done, like no one seemed to know what they were doing in creating them; there are a lot of smudges and rewrites and at least one instance of CHARISMA IS NOT A DUMP STAT :) written in the margin because somebody's bard was having a great day, apparently.

There is one in the back that seems a lot more complete, though, the stats written down by someone who seems to know what they were doing; no character name, but the player name is actually there - it was done by someone named Hilda.]

[He's not 100% sure of that, of course. But he can compare it to the locket paper to be sure]

You havin' any luck with those?

[Stan nods towards the headphones. A small thing, but he might be able to give some pointers.]

Ngh, a little? I think I got the wires twisted back together, but when I have them plugged in if I shift even a little bit the sound drops out or breaks up really bad.

You'd be better off soldering them. Doubt we've got anything to do the trick though.

Yeah, and I've never used one. I'd probably just end up ruining them for good. Shit.

[He's so disappointed]

Damn it, I promised I'd take care of these too....

Hey, don't worry about it. They'll be easy to fix once we're outta here. I'll show ya if we ever get anyplace halfway decent - it's a good thing to know how to do.

[He looks up, and smiles slightly. Talking about 'after' always makes him feel better]

Okay, yeah. I should have learned how to fix this kinda thing years ago instead of just buying new ones, honestly.

[Yosuke did say he'd show Sigrun where those books are, after all, and after poking around the places she knows there's books Black had helpfully reminded her about the game room, as sick as he seemed.

From embarrassment. Maybe.

So yes, here is Sigrun. Featuring Black. Though the latter doesn't particularly like he wants to be here because of... the flirting he and Yosuke did earlier.

... What's with these cards anyway?]

[oh hi you two. Yosuke turns red, and focuses on Sigrun.]

Teaching myself to read cards. Fixing my headphones. Nothing exciting. You looking for those books?

[... That's so cute. She really hates that Mettaton could never blush, what an asshole.]

Yup, hand 'em over buddy. What's so good about reading cards?

[ he has them out already, thanks to messing with the sheets before. So he just pushes them over]

You can use them for like, fortune telling. Our powers back home are kinda based on that, so I was curious.

[Don't mind if she plops down nearby to skim through them then.

... Character sheets... Oooh, right, like Hilda's... She's gonna have to simplify this. What's necessary.]

Really? On cards? Or the fortune telling part?

[...as much as Bruce knows this is probably a bad idea, he goes out to find Yosuke a bit after the meeting disbanded. He seemed fine at the meeting itself, but Bruce still can't help but be concerned. Betrayals were never that easy to come back from.

It takes a while but Bruce eventually locates him in the game room, where he notices the collection of items that he has with him. What does take his interest the most though are the headphones that he's fiddling with.]

You look busy.

[garudynamic]

Idle hands, right?

[He gives Bruce a small smile]

I'm trying to fix them... not much luck though.

[amygdalae]

[He steps closer at those words - not too close, but close enough so that he can extend a hand and take the headphones should Yosuke want to pass them over.]

Let me see them.

Huh? Oh, here.

[The damage is pretty minor- the jack was just pulled loose, snapping some of the wires. The body of the speakers is fine.

It look like the jack was almost yanked off entirely, which with how Yosuke threw his mp3 player on Thursday is likely the literal case]

[Well at least its just having to replace the jack... which isn't hard at all, but they don't exactly have the tools for it. (Or another jack that doesn't require sacrificing the other set of headphones that Yosuke has.)]

It doesn't look bad. If I had the necessary items, I could fix it easily, but...

[Well... yeah.]
