WEEK 9 For the first time since your stay in the Vault began, no one died this week. That doesn't mean there weren't casualties among you, however – namely, trust, interpersonal relationships, and comfort in the group dynamic as a whole. Hopefully no one else pays the price for it. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. You're safe for now – unless your dreams have told you otherwise... SURVIVORS REMAINING: 10

[In hindsight Mouri should have supposed a scientist would work on science stuff like...machines and all those thingamajigs. It also brings some bad memories related to Aiden and Shirazu, but Mouri will ignore those memories]

What are you trying to do here, exactly?

[The previous trial did cross Colress' mind as he began working on this, but...it's very important to him, so he's doing it anyway.

Colress doesn't look up from his work, but he does give Mouri a little wave in greeting.]

I am attempting to fix something that was given to me. I'd like to keep my skills sharp, and, well... I imagine we may not have much time left in here, so better now than never.

[That gets Mouri curious. What could you have there? That is why he approaches and...and he isn't sure what this device is. It's something, and in some vague way it feels kind of familiar, but he can't pinpoint what it is]

...I have no idea what this could be for. It must be something special for you to want to fix it as soon as possible, I suppose.

[He nods, finally pausing to look up and give Mouri his full attention.]

It was a gift from Tarrlok. It is a device from his world that he received from the vending machine, but it must have been damaged somewhere along the way. I promised that I would restore it to working order, since it may be of use to us at some point.

[He looks a little wistful as he talks about it.]

Tarrlok is not with us on this side anymore, but...perhaps I can finish it in his honor, at least.

I'm sure he'll appreciate it. It's kind of good the ghosts are around. I haven't talked to them much, but I'm sure Tarrlok would be glad to know you're doing this for him.

...but you do know what this device is supposed to do, right? [It'd be kind of embarrassing if you fixed it and it ended doing something entirely different to its original purpose]
