Final Investigation.

You've all done very well to make it this far, but it's not over yet. The klaxons blare out today, as they always do – there's no reason they should do any differently, not least of which because it's a Thursday; strange things usually don't happen around here until Fridays, and there's no reason to think that today will be any different. But as soon as you awaken and get a glimpse of what's happening down that first-floor corridor, it becomes very apparent that that's far from the case. The usual rooms on the eastern wing of the first floor are gone entirely, replaced by more of that glossy black that coats the courtroom; it's a little vertigo-inspiring at first, but it's not dangerous. Of more interest, then, is probably those three rooms that seem to be waiting for you – one to the north, two to the south. Choose where you're going to go. Look around for a while. What else are you going to do, after all? >Explore?

You know what, sure. Nobody allow this man to operate an ATM ever because he'll ensure your card is stuck in there forever, but for the time being that works.

The lock will audibly click open! Success, you have conquered the modern card key machine.]

He'll... try and get some help in removing the card later. For now he's steeling himself and finally opening that door.]

[The room itself is dark and largely empty; there's some faint light bouncing off the back wall, though, like it's coming from a large podium near there that's facing the center of the room.

There's a dark circle in the center of the room as well that appears to be of a different material to the floor; it's also glowing faintly. casting that weird ambient dark blue over the room.]

[THIS ISNT SCARY AT ALL nope no sir.

Speedwagon instantly starts feeling the wall closest to him, looking for a lightswitch there.]

[SIR, YOU ARE RUINING THE AESTHETIC- oh yep there's a lightswitch.

Doesn't make the place any less foreboding, given the dark walls and everything, but at least you can see that aside from that weird glowing patch there's nothing on the floor that's about to bite you or trip you or something.]

[oh thank god. The less darkness there is, the more he doesn't have to worry about something touching him in here and giving him several fatal heart attacks.

Doesn't mean the room's any less foreboding in its emptiness to him. seems they took the minimalist rooms for this investigation. sheesh.

And seeing as there's nothing else on the floor, he'll walk in and inspect that weird glowing patch on the floor. The podium can wait it's turn.]

[If Speedwagon goes to check the glowing patch then Mouri will go for the podium.

What is this podium, huh?]

[It's set up similarly to the podiums in the courtroom, actually, with a powered-down touchpad in the center and a few unlabeled buttons glowing softly beneath it.]

[When in doubt press buttons. That is how things have worked everywhere.

Going for the first one he sees, without a concrete care of which one it is. All Mouri wants is to see what is going on here]

[That'll get the touchpad to turn back on! ...With a list of the currently deceased, sort of like the voting screen.]

...okay, I'm not sure if I should keep pressing buttons here...

[He doesn't want to accidentally vote for Aqua or something and make everyone both alive and dead lose the chance to live.

But investigations are important. That is why he'll crush any hesitation and check other buttons...and pray he isn't dooming everyone. He won't touch the touchpad at all, though]

[The next one will give you a list of the living, set up similarly.]

[That was to be expected. If one is for dead people and the other one is for those that are alive...

...could any buttons left show names? Will he unknowingly find Glory and Ambitious? The curiosity is slightly stronger. One button more!]

[The next screen shows all 27 Survivors, listed by titles, along with a 28th selection for Kingmaker.

Underneath everyone's titles, the word ALIVE is listed.]

What?!

[The word ALIVE caught him by surprise, and there is the Kingmaker too! What is this supposed to be all about?

If there are any buttons left he's going to press them, but if not he is going to...hesitantly tap the Kingmaker's name]

[CONGRATULATIONS, YOU KILLED THE-

okay, no.

It looks like that one isn't going to do anything, actually; the ALIVE status isn't going to change, but neither is anything else in the room.

Try one of the others, maybe.]

[The surface of it is hard, but again, it's a different material from the rest of the floor; the glowing seems to be coming from beneath it, rather than shining down from above.

It looks almost like it's made from some sort of tile, but it's not any sort of material that anyone here would be familiar with, much less the guy from the 1800s. Sorry, buddy.]

Ah well, he'll just knock on the strange material, see what that gets him.]

[It's solid, but weirdly malleable! And it'll get you a strange humming noise and probably a good amount of static electricity doing fun things to your hair.]

[oh no his fluff is gaining sentience! It'll consume his head if he's not careful.

Which means it'll be just fine to stand on...? Look, circles are usually supposed to have things in them. That's how it works. And if he dies, he's got a witness.]
