WEEK 4.

WEEK 4
Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira.

It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week?

Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost...

Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with.

Or perhaps just more means to get creative with regards to how you take initiative with your fellow Apprentices.

[this is literally the greatest day of his life there is no way that a week starting with such a wonderful day could be anything but good. everything is coming up milhouse!

Sport spends pretty much the entire day on the fourth floor, excitedly exploring the new rooms like a kid in a sports candy shop. the dojo is absolutely perfect for flips, and the gym literally almost brings him to tears because these machines are so fancy and cool and he loves them so much... his mood falters a bit when he discovers the pool, standing at the edge and frowning at the water a bit...

he goes and changes into the provided swimming trunks-- still wearing his hat, tho-- and dives into the deepest part of the pool. and he'll just stay there for a little while.]

[...You know, he isn't sure why he expected anything else, but here he is anyway and god, Sportacus looks like he's having a good day today.

Kimbley's still looking a little rough and vaguely dead behind the eyes, but he figured that he should at least check out the lower floor and...well, here he is, seeing whatever this guy is doing in here and generally just leaning against the wall like he's got no intention of joining but every intention of watching for a while.]

...You like you're having a good time.

The best! [the force of one hand moves him from a handstand to an actual standing position.] And with all this space, I probably won't hit the wall nearly as much!

[he sits, getting into some stretches-- easier to talk like this. and boy does he want to talk. he's just gotta. figure a way in.]

Some of the kids [he says, talking about people literally hundreds of years older than him] have been asking me to teach them how to do backflips-- I can finally do it, in a place like this. [a grin] I don't think you'd be very interested in joining us, though.

[He pauses for a moment at that, tilting his head.]

I'm not as good at it as you are, but I can still do a few things. Not as much as I used to, granted, but some.

[Conversation like this is a little...easier, maybe, just focusing on the movement that's going on and not much of anything else. It's. Better. Than it has been for most of the day, anyway.]

It's not fair to compare yourself to me! If everybody did that, they'd be too discouraged to even try!

[he's not like an expert sarcasm-er or anything but he does his best.]

I'm trying to imagine you doing a cartwheel, but it's not really working.

[He seems kind of amused at that, really.]

You're going to make me demonstrate, aren't you.

[!!!] Well, if you're feeling up to it. I wouldn't want to pressure you!

[He just kind of...sighs a bit, though it's in that exaggerated way that implies he's not really put-out and is entirely willing to humor the guy for now; he walks into the room a bit to give himself a bit of space, and then gives himself a few steps' lead-in before planting his left hand down and just sort of having at.

It's obviously not something he usually does for the sake of it - he doesn't come out of it standing, he lands crouched in a defensive position on the floor and he's got his hands slightly raised and tense at his sides like he's prepared to pull a weapon of some sort - but at the same time, it is one-handed and not...entirely terrible, either.

(It's. Rather fortunately one-handed, because it looks as though one of his hands has been bandaged-up by Mercy now that it's actually visible, but he seems none the worse for wear and he's quick to shove his hands back in his pockets once he's standing up.)

...He kind of stumbles forward upon standing because he's still the least coordinated person in the building when he's not doing shit like whatever he just did, but we can't have everything.]

...Like I said. Not as good as I used to be, but not completely useless.

[he watches the proceedings with wide eyes-- cocking his head a bit at the bandages-- and, at the end, claps v politely.]

That was great! [he was kinda just expecting him to completely eat shit so. expectations surpassed entirely.] You must have been really great before!

[thankfully, he did not completely eat shit, that would have been moderately humiliating.]

I had a lot of energy when I was a teenager, I tended to get it out by way of stupid amounts of physical activity.

[nods knowingly] I was the same way, when I was younger! I just never actually stopped.

If it works for you, then more power to you. Personally, I kind of had to stop for a while - not too much choice in the matter.

[...Prison does that.]

[hm, that doesn't sound like a good direction to take the conversation, either... he's thinking. it's a little obvious when he does; he strokes his mustaches.]

You could always start up again, here! If you'd like to. We have such nice spaces to do things, now, after all.

[Take all the time you need, man.]

...I wouldn't mind that, maybe. It'd be something to do, anyway.

It's a good way to pass the time, right? A good way to work out how you're feeling!

[he glances, somewhat pointedly, towards the pocketed hand.]

And maybe just a little bit safer than other ways.

...It was a wall, before anybody asks. I had a rough night.

[Dreams sucked last night, Sport, you've got no idea.]

[nods slowly] Bad dreams.

[he really, really has no idea. and he knows.]

I know you know healthier ways of dealing with this than that. And I know you'll use them instead, the next time. [he speaks with a great deal of care. trying his best to not come off as condescending as he tries making a move.] I just... Talking is one of those ways. It can help, even if it's only a little bit.

[Oh...]

I don't talk to a lot of people around here - they don't seem like the sort that would get it, you know? Some of them do, though.

[...Ah, right, about that - ]

I should probably apologize or something, for getting all snappish at you during the trial. Jasper kind of... Well, she didn't let me have it or anything, but she kind of proved your point afterwards. About people getting upset if I die or whatever.

[OH WHEW. man. who expected jasper to be doing the heavy emotional labor here. carrying feelings in her big strong arms.]

You don't have to. It was... not a good time, I think. Everything started happening so fast, and the way you were talking... [scared him. a little.] I'm glad Jasper got through.

[a pause] I know I am definitely not someone who "gets it"-- I don't really get most things here to begin with... But, I hope you will still talk with me. I like talking with you.

...If you want answers about all of that, I don't mind talking about anything that was said back then. It's not going to piss me off or offend me or anything.

But I...

[He kind of hesitates for a moment; this is awkward, especially after Kira's...that.]

...Yeah. I like talking with you too.

[he beams at that.]

I don't need any answers... But, if you want to talk about something, I am here to listen. I have been told I'm pretty good at it.

...Yeah. Yeah, I don't see why not, I guess.

[Which is better than nothing, really; at least he doesn't seem all that keyed-up about it for the time being.]

The dream last night involved a guy that reminds me a lot of Kira. Apparently he was my superior officer back home, he got me reinstated to the military and everything.

I guess I just took it kind of badly after everything Kira decided to be this weekend. That's all it is, really.

[nods]

[...what is that even supposed to mean]
