WEEK 4.

WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. Or perhaps just more means to get creative with regards to how you take initiative with your fellow Apprentices. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 23 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 22 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 20

So you're remembering some resets, basically? Is there any way to know which one's first, or does it not even work like that?

Not completely.

[Look, she isn't even sure what order things happened for her on the Moon.]

But I seem to have realized I'd shifted into the blue button room from another timeline, so it's clearly not the first one I experienced. I'm not sure offhand whether or not getting tased would count as enough danger to set it off subconsciously...

Not really? It's just that waking up in that room was the first thing that happened in that memory.

[The Healing Room. Given its holographic walls there's a very slim chance of something like that being here somewhere. On to tasing.]

No, not really. Different choices lead to different results, and that's how timelines diverge.

[So if C-team was "executed" and then they woke up in manufacturing...]

Basically, Q-team was executed in the timeline I woke up in the room with the button.

[As opposed to C-team being "executed" quote unquote.]

[ . . . She's still not sure she gets it, but she's going to pretend she did and more intently study the stuff on the paper. What's all labeled there again? Basically, there's three teams who could be killed and different ones were in different times through the whole choice thing. ]

From 12:00 to 13:30 was the execution vote period. This could have gone one of four ways. As it is displayed on the chart:

The "Cx" or "C-team executed" timeline leads to the manufacturing room segment.

The "Qx" or "Q-team executed" timeline leads to the button room segment.

The "Dx" or "D-team executed" timeline leads to a giant X. Guess which team Phi is on!

The "0x" or "no team executed" timeline has a big question mark next to it because she's not sure that outcome was possible.]

So you remember all three of these?

...no, the C and Q. If D-team got executed at some point I don't remember it.

[She won't deny that it might have happened in her sleep or something, but she's gonna be an optimist about that.]

And all of this is over one day, right? After some whacko took over the fake-Mars thing that you infiltrated because of your tarot-card reading boss in order to save the world.

Well, Akane actually doesn't do that kind of thing to see the future but the idea's the same.

...I didn't mention she's on C-team, did I...

Okay so your friend-boss-whatever's killed in one of these.

Well, Zero claimed she does, but she's still alive in 2074 so that can't be right.

[Not to mention the entire reason she got back from then.]

Couldn't she just be alive in the future in one of those timelines where everything works out better but dead in another one? Or doesn't it work like that?

[ This is way too scifi for her. ]

Impossible. The 2074 I saw has to follow from the timeline where I escaped.
