Week 6.

WEEK 6 The number of Survivors left is dropping at a quick pace; the King got what he wanted, for better or for worse; Tarrlok and Lynne were victims of both fate and some sort of magic that most in the Vault still don't quite understand, and Misa Amane has been executed, not for her particular brand of "justice", but for murdering two innocent people. It's been a bad week. However, Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible sixth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you've done well. You've earned it. My wife and daughter are in the middle of a sea that gets inside of you when you're vulnerable and corrupts you until there's nothing left of the person you used to be except your face and I have no idea if they're going to be alright or if they're already turned into horrors -

...I know you're mad at me and you have the right to be. We can talk about that or not talk about that, that's fine, whatever you want.

But I don't want to lose you, not to anything. Maybe that's selfish too, but it's scarier than anything else that could happen here.

[His voice is still kind of muffled on the basis that he doesn't seem to want to take his face away from Mettaton's chest.]

Admitting to my history publicly makes me an 'acceptable' target and is, admittedly, pretty stupid.

If this many people weren't dead, I'd ask you to have a little more faith in my ability to protect myself. But that's a stupid thing to say now, so I won't.

...It would be easier not to care if stupid people got themselves killed, wouldn't it.

I envy you for that. I couldn't manage it. No matter what stupid thing you could possibly do to get hurt, I would still cry buckets.

It's always been really easy for me, actually.

[And so is that admission, and everything that comes after it, even though he suspects it shouldn't be.]

Everyone here seems to have some sort of problem with being that way. But I really think they're overcomplicating things... It doesn't have to be as hard as they're making it out to be.

Apparently that's messed up. But that doesn't really matter to me.

You're not messed up.

[It matters to him, so it comes out firm.]

You're better at keeping your distance emotionally than the rest of us. That's not wrong or bad. It's a skill I don't have and I'm not sure I'd want to, but it's not wrong.

...I just don't see why people wouldn't do that sort of thing.

[He shrugs a bit.]

If you want to get anywhere in life, you have to be prepared and willing to cut people off who hold you back. You won't get what you want without sacrificing important things, that's just how the world works.
