WEEK 6 The number of Survivors left is dropping at a quick pace; the King got what he wanted, for better or for worse; Tarrlok and Lynne were victims of both fate and some sort of magic that most in the Vault still don't quite understand, and Misa Amane has been executed, not for her particular brand of "justice", but for murdering two innocent people. It's been a bad week. However, Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible sixth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you've done well. You've earned it. Sorry to put it this way, but... You look a bit awful.

I feel a bit awful, to be honest.

...Where to start.

I've told you I was in a civil war, right? The Blue Sea against the Red Sea, more commonly known now as the Sea of Death. I fought for the Blue Sea, and we won.

...Or at least, we survived. We didn't 'win' in the sense of wiping out the enemy or getting them to surrender. Our sorcerer sealed them away, and that stopped the fighting.

Wherever you can. [He'll listen to just about anything. Which isn't to say that Speedwagon would have a hard time believing in Cherryblod's words. He just has no idea where a thousand years old shrimp person would begin to talk about their troubles.]

... Well, I can't say anything calling itself the Sea of Death is anything good from the start.

[An acute observation from Speedwagon.]

So you're saying the war never really ended.

[cherryblooded]

No, not really. Just delayed for a couple hundred years.

The Sea of Death - is less a 'sea' and more of an 'entity'. It gets inside of people, corrupts them from the inside out until they're nothing like the people they used to be. Just a puppet, really, a monster with a familiar face.

I dreamed someone broke the seal on it. And that's where my wife and daughter are now.

[isafraid]

...And they're alone there.

[Oops.]

But hang on a moment! I'm... sure they're just fine! There could be another way- that can't just be all there is!

Entirely possible they're fine, of course. Can't deny that's true. Entirely possible that the people who used to be my family are gone now.

No way of knowing.

[That's the worst bit.]

[isafraid]

Ah... that is the worst of it, isn't it? [He hardly wanted to think the worst of it, even if that was exactly what they were doing right now.

Dammit.]

Cherryblod, I can't say I know exactly what you're going through, but I can only imagine how terrible it feels.

[cherryblooded]

...That's alright. Wouldn't expect anyone else to know what it's like.

[He swallows and looks away.]

Thank you for your sympathy.

[Speedwagon wonders if there's anyone that could understand his plight. No one that was alive now, that was for sure.

It's... so unfortunate.]

...Oi. [He reaches out, figuratively and litteraly. Cherryblod gets a hand resting on his shoulder.]

Don't give up hope yet, mister Cherryblod. For all we know, things outside of this place could be better then any of us have any reason to believe. [or they could all be homeless.] You just have to keep up your courage.

[cherryblooded]

[He's trembling underneath Speedwagon's hand.

After a moment, he nods and turns to face him.]

I'll keep hoping. After all, I'm an optimist, aren't I? Can't give up on that just because things aren't going my way.

They'll be fine.

[isafraid]

[How much could Speedwagon offer to help him? He could do whatever it took, but no matter what they were still trapped. If they all managed to get out alive, then maybe...]

They will. Don't give up hope on them just yet. If that was the way, then I'd have given up hope some time ago.

[Ha... haha... He nods.]

A bit of optimism goes a long way in any time.

Do you have people you're keeping out hope for, Speedwagon?

[Let's talk about literally anything other than his own problems. Maybe that'll make him feel better.]

Well... of course! Even Speedwagon has got some family to go back home to.
