Week 6.

WEEK 6 The number of Survivors left is dropping at a quick pace; the King got what he wanted, for better or for worse; Tarrlok and Lynne were victims of both fate and some sort of magic that most in the Vault still don't quite understand, and Misa Amane has been executed, not for her particular brand of "justice", but for murdering two innocent people. It's been a bad week. However, Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible sixth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you've done well. You've earned it. It's not dumb, it's surprisingly thoughtful.

[ Black's... going to chance leaning against Yosuke. It'd be shoulder-to-shoulder, but someone has to have a significant amount of height on him. ]

...or not so surprisingly, really. I'm touched.

[he doesn't mind it- he's used to his friends all being meatier then him. Damn scrawny ass]

Not that... it'd stop anyone else. But still.

It'd probably stop a lot more people than you think. [ Very gently... inching his hand to put over Yosuke's... it's a little more nervewracking than it should be. ]

People don't typically go doing anything to rash if they have something to look forward to. [ And Yosuke's definitely that—for him, anyway. For other people? ...maybe the idea of not losing to an 18 year old could work. ] You and Mr. Cherryblod should have a little more faith in how much people think of you.

[ ...Black is so good at turning situations around on people, welcome to being comforted by the person you were trying to comfort. ]

[He notices, and can't help finding it a little funny- but he won't deny he needs it. To the point he'll turn his hand under Black's, so they are palm to palm. He's gone to far to care by now, and damn it there's so few things in this hellhole he can enjoy]

You noticed that with Cherryblod too, huh?

[Nevermind himself. Dad is worrying himself to literal death]

[ His heart being in his throat isn't appropriate for this at all. He's just holding his hand to give him some comfort. It's a thing you do. It's perfectly fine. It's woken him up a little and he sort of hates this.

Also, a Look. ]

And you, yes. He was so worried about people not liking him... [ After the whole, y'know, reveal. ] Which is silly. He's been nothing but genuinely nice here, and he means a lot to a lot of people.

[garudynamic]

He got a pretty bad memory too, last night. I don't think he'll... do anything. But it'd be easy for him to not be as careful as he should be.

[penduli]

Ah.[ ...and Black asked him such a horrible question, too.

A soft groan as he squeezes his eyes shut. ] ...I asked him a really terrible question when he came to check up on me earlier. About what he'd do if his wife and daughter died, and it was his fault, sort of, even if he never meant for it to happen but it did, because it was better for everyone if they were dead. You know—like with me and White.

[ ... ]

I hope I didn't make anything worse.

[garudynamic]

[Yosuke squeezes his hand... though he's wincing too. Yeah, that was a really bad question.]

There's... something really bad happening in his world. Something that could turn people into monsters.

[Something worse then death]

He blames himself for not being there when they're... right in the middle of it.

[penduli]

[ Ah. Yeah, that's. Oops. ]

If I had known, I wouldn't have asked him. [ Like that, anyway, or... maybe not at all. Maybe he would've just come out and said it instead of trying to gently beat around the bush and feel out a reaction.

Ugh. He's terrible. ] ...I hope things turn out okay, and that they stay safe.

[garudynamic]

Me too. Though from how he talks about his wife I think they'll be alright. We should... worry more about stuff we can change HERE, for now.

[penduli]

There's not much we can. [ black feeling a little better = cynic power hour ] We're floundering around in the dark constantly, and trying to cheer everyone up won't work every time something goes wrong somehow.

[garudynamic]

[He bumps his shoulder back at Black]

We've found some stuff out, it's not over just yet.

[penduli]

[ A bump riiiiight back. ]

Not enough though. We've been here for [ ...he hates that he's counting weeks by bodies, holy shit ] almost a month and a half now, or something close to that.

[garudynamic]

I know... but I gotta keep trying anyways. Otherwise I'd end up sleeping in my room all day until some finally... you know.

[penduli]

You can lock your door, you know. [ ... ] I don't know if we're required to attend trials, anyway, so in theory, you really could just stay in...

[ ...it's not such a bad idea, except— ]

Unfortunately, humans can't live off of sleep and depression. [ That'd be nice if they could, though. ]

[garudynamic]

Not from lack of trying. You think if I didn't show up I'd still get off'd for a wrong vote?

[penduli]

[ ...huh. ]

Do you think he'd really kill us if we didn't vote for the right person and everyone else did? [ Majority rules, but he never said anything about the minority... ] I wouldn't be surprised, I suppose, but as long as most of us are right, does it matter?

[garudynamic]

What if everyone voted wrong? Could you be in your room and just, like.... die?

[penduli]

Mmmm, maybe, or maybe he'd come and do the job personally... or maybe send the dead after you to take care of it. [ Man, did tonight get terrifying or what-- ]

[garudynamic]

[Apparently, cuz Yosuke has gone from shoulder bumping to outright leaning]

I can't say I'd turn down the chance to try and fight him.

[ this is way nicer than when sigrun does it, mostly because yosuke doesn't weigh a bunch ]

You wouldn't win. [ ...he sighs, setting his head on yosuke's shoulder. carefully. ] Though I guess that wouldn't really matter, huh. You'd be dying anyway.

[garudynamic]

Oh yeah, I know.

You know, back when Taichi died I tried to challenge him. Of course he blew me off but... god it was dumb.

[penduli]

[ ah... ]

...Have you talked to him a lot?

[garudynamic]

Not really? Mostly it's me talking and him blowing me off. I was kinda a little drunk too which is why I-

[He gestures to where he put Black's phone]

Oh. [ .... ] Thanks for that. I'm not sure he would've taken me seriously if I had, but all the same.

...are you an embarrassing drunk? [ considering we got scotch mcgee over her doing perfectly fine ]
