WEEK 6 The number of Survivors left is dropping at a quick pace; the King got what he wanted, for better or for worse; Tarrlok and Lynne were victims of both fate and some sort of magic that most in the Vault still don't quite understand, and Misa Amane has been executed, not for her particular brand of "justice", but for murdering two innocent people. It's been a bad week. However, Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible sixth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you've done well. You've earned it. Dangerous crazy or normal crazy? I've got a family of gnomes and a feral boyband I gotta chase outta the garbage cans every few days. Some of it you get used to.

It's a relief to hear they're not one and the same, unlike back home. [ Normal, dangerous crazy...... ] Feral boyband any good at being a, well... boyband?

Mabel used to like 'em. I think she puts snacks out there sometimes, but they still keep on rootin' through the trash.

That's just encouraging them to do it, I'm sure. If you really want them to stop, you have to train them out of it and stick to it.

Won't be my problem much longer anyway. I'm just gonna leave 'em for Ford to deal with.

...are the twins staying with him there, or are you taking them with you? [ He seems like he loves those kids, so it's worth asking. ]

They're gonna go back home to their parents at the end of the summer. I'm stayin' long enough to see 'em off - Ford would be terrible at watching them and he knows it.

[Honestly neither of them are entirely appropriate guardians.]

Dunno how much I'll see of them after that. There's some stuff I gotta figure out first.

Did you see them much before this summer?

Not too much. I'd get out there every now and then, but I had the shop to run and all. [Super illegal science portals to work on, yeah] This is the first time they've visited me.

[ are you sure it's not just because you're the weird uncle no one invites anywhere, stan. are you sure. ]

And they get to deal with feral boybands and zombies. [ ... ] Must be tough. I know a lot of people have a hard time adjusting to Hellsalem's Lot when they first come in, since it's full of things that look like they're straight out of science-fiction or supernatural thrillers.

[That plus avoiding the family until everyone who could tell Stanford and Stanley Pines apart were dead!]

Wait, you live in a place called Hellsalem's Lot?

[penduli]

Yeah. [ ...YEAH... ] Hellsalem's Lot City, actually, but everyone just shortens it because it gets to be kind of a mouthful. It's also called "the magic-sealed city" and rumored to be a city where even miracles can occur...

...there's some truth to that rumor, depending on your definition of what a "miracle" is.

Is it vampires?

[penduli]

There's those. [ Blood Breeds. ] But some pretty astounding stuff's happened. It's... mostly gotten that reputation because it feels like anything can happen, I guess. The only miracle I've ever experienced is not dying on the way to work.

...there's a book called Salem's Lot, it's got vampires in it.

Sounds like where I live, but worse.

[ ...sometimes he forgets there are fictitious cities with names similar to the city he's been living in for three years. ]

Right. [ ...wow tho— ] I... think I'm glad there's other people dealing with the same stuff? I mean, it's a little worrying, since that's not supposed to happen, but if it's another universe entirely, there's nothing we Casters can do about it...

[ And maybe it's normal for other worlds????? He guesses?? ]

You don't have interdimensional investigators or anything like that?

.....no, interdimensional stuff ain't. Common.

[Ford probably knows like twenty of those though.]

[ ......ah. ]

Right. That's... good. It gets really messy, as you might imagine.

Yeah. Yeah, it does.
