WEEK 4.

WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. Ah- Inoue-san!

[The funny thing is, despite Watanuki knowing that he has no chance in hell with her, he still finds himself smiling more when Orihime shows up. Something Mugetsu immediately notices, because. Well. Watanuki only ever does that around Himawari.

So Mugetsu looks back and forth between Watanuki and Orihime a few times, and then ultimately he jumps off of Watanuki entirely to try and land on Orihime somewhere. Maybe her shoulders or her arm.

He must inspect this new person hello there.]

Aaaah, don't scare her!

[Mugetsu shakes his head. Nope, he didn't like that at all.]

Well, he's here now at least.

[Watanuki pauses thoughtfully.]

...that wouldn't make him a student too, would it?

[plentyfriendly]

[There's a pause before she speaks, as she stares at the longsword for a bit more.]

Yes.

Because it would damage the throat or stomach, or a digestible amount of it would be too much and just make it worse.

[She'll need to come back and investigate this room another day. Tomorrow, maybe.]

[tsugomori]

[ Mikazuki steps closer and then reaches out with his hand, before poking at her hand playfully just once because he can. ]

... Oh by the way, what do you plan to do once we escape from here?

Good, because that is mine, and I would like to have it back.

[ Mikazuki will kneel down to reach over to that sheath to take it. It's a little unfortunate his blade isn't within, but it'll do. ]

Ah...even though I don't have the actual blade with me it is quite nice having something else that actually belonged to me in my hands again.

I think so, yes. Major skating competitions conclude with an exhibition gala where skaters perform non-competitive programs for the audience. I don't remember it, but it seems that Yuuri and I decided to pair skate at the gala.

[tsugomori]

[ ... ]

Is there something on your mind?

[This is fine. Meat is delicious, and it's not like the creatures that went into the meat are going to suddenly undie.]

Not at all. Honchkrow likes to sit on my head all the time. It feels a little more like home.

[...Man, he misses the rest of his Pokémon. They better be okay...]

Do you want to fight? [ He's not shouting but his wings are flared, because he's excited in his own way.]

A gorilla, yes. He's also a brilliant scientist. He was born in an experimental colony. The training and research he's done is excellent.

[Look, it's less weird to have a talking gorilla than it is to have a purple spider lady.]

[ Well she's been half-convinced that the books are magic spellbooks or something. She's looked through most of them, but she picks out a few to glance through them. If there's nothing there, let's open the board games and rummage in their boxes ]

[ And here's a basic explanation of hand-to-hand because Killia would know and I don't!]

Those are the basics, but it's better if we practice against each other than a stationary target. Whoever lands five unblocked hits wins.

You ready? [ Killia doesn't have a particularly ornate combat stance but he does have one, his wings moving behind him.]

Game Room

[ Well Elda had been doing an investigation in the Game Room and when she sees Phi working there...

Well, it's time to look around her body and see what's up again!! ]

[feistytrader]

...Yeah. At this rate, we'll all be dead in two months.

[That wasn't particularly optimistic, but it's too late to take it back now.]

You don't believe they're memories?

Yeah... [ That wasn't enough either, in Lieze's case. Nearly Seraphina's too, but he didn't elaborate on why and he doesn't plan to. He doesn't really have anything else to say, and goes back to punching the crap out of the punching bag.]

Retaliation.

[Monday morning arrives as it always does, heralded by the sound of the chimes ringing out throughout the University. It's quiet this morning, though it isn't necessarily a good sort of silence; as a matter of fact, there's a heavy sense of unease spreading throughout the second floor, immediately noticeable almost as soon as any of you come downstairs.

Anyone looking out of the stairwell and down the hallway will be greeted with the sight of thin tendrils of darkness and shadow wrapping their way around the wall, leading into the doorway to the infirmary and indicating that perhaps there's a larger concentration of it inside.

It won't attack or hurt you; anyone looking up will notice that it doesn't seem to be flowing in from the ceiling this time, either. It just seems to be there, flowing and pulsating gently as it shifts around against the wall, almost as though it's encouraging you, urging you inward to see what's happened inside the room it's claimed for the time being.

Should you choose to enter, it'll draw back against the wall as though wanting you to see what's happened here; there's the still form of a person lying on the floor, a chair knocked back nearby in the sort of haphazard way that happens when one jumps up too fast. There's a fair amount of blood on the floor beneath the body, and a good amount more on her back; the source of it isn't difficult to see, either – one of those swords that had been piercing Milla's chest seems to have been rammed through this person's back, in a position that implies that it'd run through several vital organs on its way through and out the front of her chest.

It seems to have been a single, very precise strike; it's very likely that she died instantly, her blue eyes still open in an expression of mild surprise. Parts of her face are obscured by the front of her blond hair where it's fallen loosely towards the floor in the front; just the same, she's easily and immediately recognizable.

Mercy is dead.

Once again, however, the dark flowing mass hanging back near the edges of the room will approach the body once a few people have come in here to see what's happening; it's a bit more obvious this time, with the entity in the room to begin with, but it doesn't seem to be interested in letting people investigate, nor does it seem interested in letting people grieve – rather, it seems to want witnesses.

Once again, it's quick with what it does, far moreso than it ever is in the pit, starting with one of her arms where it's splayed out on the floor and working its way across her body; it takes the sword with it as it goes.

And once it's enveloped her it dissipates into the floor, consuming her whole and vanishing entirely into the ground; as before, the Wordsmith's voice can be heard over the system, two simple sentences that he doesn't seem inclined to elaborate on.]

There were a few more mistakes in play alongside Rule Three this time.

I wouldn't suggest trying that again.

I certainly wouldn't lie about my skill.

[But it's not like she had any way to know that and he is the sort of braggart to make himself sound better at things than he actually is, so. That makes sense, as much as he doesn't want to admit it.

But he'll shrug a bit and pick up the sword to run through the drills again from the top. It's wild and sometimes unrefined, but there's power behind every swing. You can interrupt him whenever you like; he doesn't usually get an audience for his training so he might actually be fine with interruptions.]

I can only imagine. I don't have any special skills like that. He took my sword away, but that isn't quite the same as what you have going on.

[It's probably best to avoid mentioning Kira, if only because he'll be tempted to start laughing again...]

That happens sometimes. It's unfortunate, but what can you do.

I absolutely understand, though! I can't let my skills get rusty or I'll be in serious trouble! If those memory dreams are right... Well, the point is that I need to be in peak condition when I return home!

Good. The less people that end up dead in here, the better.

[And a lot of people would be pretty upset if they had to vote for Varric.]

[Phi had said she was going to check one of those new rooms thoroughly, a while back. But when she sees the darkness coming from over there, she can't help but come over.
