WEEK 4.

WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. Or perhaps just more means to get creative with regards to how you take initiative with your fellow Apprentices. APPRENTICES REMAINING: 23 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 22 APPRENTICES REMAINING: 20

[ Admittedly, he started looking at the sci-fi novels first, because he picked at a random spot and this seemed like a good place to start... ]

[ Well that's probably interesting to others here, though he doesn't know what to make of it. Once he's done looking at the machines he goes over to the mats, moving them around a bit just to see if there's anything hidden under them or what not.]

[ A little disappointing but not particularly surprising! But for the sake of being thorough, he decides to start removing the bottles so he can see if there's anything off about the shelves themselves - any signs of a hidden compartment or something? ]

["What kind of nonsense are you trying to pull."

It's too easy to imagine the Wordsmith saying that. Far too easy. But it's far from the only thing about it that weighs on Phi. All of it was accurate. There was no way she could have foreseen that...

"I'm the only one who should stay."
"Then..."

"Kill me. Kill me, and burn the remains."

Phi is visibly more down than she has been in the past few weeks as she gets a few things from the vending machine.

...None of those people had to die.

Of the rooms on the fourth floor, Phi has the most interest in the infirmary - at a glance it most likely has the most leads that might lead to getting out of here in a way that won't cause even more death.

"Six of us are... dead. Counting myself, there are only three left. They were killed. I... I guess you could say... I killed them. No... no, that's not quite right... Not just them. Not just these six... All of them. All six billion. Soon, I will have killed six billion people."

It was in a room a lot like this one she heard those words for the first time, though. As she walks out, though... she seems to have realized something, rushing back to her room, room 4, for a certain chart, then heading for the game room to make some updates.]

he has no idea what to do about this guy after recent revelations, but like. looking like that is usually Bad? man, how long is he gonna be there. ...maybe he can sort of... pop over to the kitchen real quick, get some hot cocoa together, pop back down, and arrive with... an actually kind of not too terrible hot cocoa??? shit, is he actually improving.]

Oh? Well, I would...but I don't have a swimsuit, or anything.

[She doesn't know there are any, and...as is obvious at this point, Judy isn't an animal to go nude ever.]

I would love to see something like that in action.

[ Mikazuki still hasn't quite seen a blade like that, even back at the citadel, and with how many boasts about who or what's blade was the strongest. But, anyway... ]

But, even though I don't have a blade yet, I am glad that there is finally a dojo. It took quite awhile, didn't it?

[ ... Just in case, he'll just close the door shut. He doesn't want people to overhear. ]

I hope that somehow manages to bode well. Although, if it's doesn't, then I'll just say that I still see you as someone I care about deeply and nothing will change that.

I didn't know I had one. [ It's an honest admission because he never makes jokes but...maybe that counts.]

He's another sword, right? Do you guys fight each other? [ He means spar, but demons don't really use proper terminology as far as that's concerned.]

[It's said in agreement, but it's fairly cheerful. Clearly, hanging out at the bottom of the pool wasn't due to sulking or anything like that.]

Many things that would affect organic life do not affect Gems. Of course, there are disadvantages to that.

[She motions to the pool.]

Our bodies automatically adjust to changes in gravity. It means I cannot float in water.

Fine. Happy to have the space to move around, at least.

[ It's half a lie, half not.]

Ah, well...thank you for your help, by the way.

[ He'll smile helplessly and just watch the red-head make some food. He is pretty excited for the other to do so. ]

Well, I am doing alright for now, and I did have another dream, yes. I met a comrade I hadn't seen in quite awhile, so it was a good dream of sorts. What about you? Is everything alright and all that?

[firstaid]

[She's just as tickled that it came to her! She'll definitely be petting him some.]

I suppose I would be surprised as well. Though given those Pokemon are coming out of this, it's not terribly unexpected.

[firstaid]

I killed someone with my power. I meant to heal her since my power is capable of healing people. I suppose it has the opposite effect on creatures like her. We call them Entelexeia. They aren't gods or anything, but sentient majestic beasts may be a correct way to describe them. In any case, I killed her when I meant to save her. She said very kind words to me, however, before she died. I'm still trying to process them.

[She killed her, yet she gave her words to uplift her... But then she smiles, blushing a little at Mikazuki's words.]

However, thank you. I feel the same way.

[She'll approach him, getting in his face a bit.]

Are you really fine?

[Sorry, they've been here three weeks. She's past allowing people to bullshit at her and will press past it for people she's come to care about.]

[he stops punching, looks around, and... oh. yeah.

Meanwhile, the Masquerain turns and looks down at her, then looks mildly offended and does his best to look intimidating.]

Oh. Nah, he's fine. He just can't do any of the stuff he'd usually be able to do to beat on this thing, that's all.

[It's been an arduous week for Varric, topped off with a confusing memory -- a cherry on top of an already heaping mess.

"You're the Viscount of Kirkwall now?"

"'What's the worst that could happen if we put the dwarf in charge.'"

The newest floor failed to hold Varric's interest for long -- it wasn't nearly the gift that the third floor had been. He tried at first to keep his mind off of the whole thing by practicing with the crossbows available to him in the shooting range, but it only served to remind him of duties better served. After picking up one of the bows from the room and collecting a fistful of arrows (and slinging one of the crossbows over his back), Varric made his way up to the workshop.]

[He'd been working intermittently since his conversation with Judy, and now he had something to show for it. He studied the bow, clamped in place to settle its curve, before loosening it. He grinned when the small thing held its shape.]

[Turning his attention to the bow he'd brought down, he cut the string free, and set to stringing up the new weapon. Once that was finished, he turned his attention to resizing the arrows from the room above.]

[He'd likely be hard at work in there most of the day.]

[Now this is a place Judy hasn't frequented a whole ton, and it's interesting for her to see. Of course, she's not at all surprised when she sees Varric there hard at work...but she is a little surprised by what she sees him working with.]

What have you got there, Varric?

[iaspis]

[...Don't worry, Guzma! She's fine!! Probably. It's not long before she emerges, and when she does, she has to use the stairs to get out of it, because she doesn't just rise back up to the surface of the water.

She notices him staring and raises a brow.]

Is something wrong?

[Mugetsu shows his approval of Judy by booking her on the nose with his nose. Then he crawls back to Watanuki, who is standing by this point, and makes his way up to perch on his shoulder.]

I guess he approves of you too.

[While just using this time to stretch her legs and explore the fourth floor, the infirmary seems like a great place to check out. The stuff here is different and she's not really sure how some of the things work, like the surgical kits or the IVs. She's not going to mess with it though. Her specialty is healing with magic, but otherwise (even if magic is useless here).]

Do you know how some of this stuff is used? I've never seen anything like it.

[Estelle's voice is enough to - partially - snap Phi out of recalling all this for the third time.]

...Some of it, yeah. Dr. Ziegler would probably know more, but I'll answer what I can.

[this is literally the greatest day of his life there is no way that a week starting with such a wonderful day could be anything but good. everything is coming up milhouse!

Sport spends pretty much the entire day on the fourth floor, excitedly exploring the new rooms like a kid in a sports candy shop. the dojo is absolutely perfect for flips, and the gym literally almost brings him to tears because these machines are so fancy and cool and he loves them so much... his mood falters a bit when he discovers the pool, standing at the edge and frowning at the water a bit...

he goes and changes into the provided swimming trunks-- still wearing his hat, tho-- and dives into the deepest part of the pool. and he'll just stay there for a little while.]

[She does give Phi a bit of a worried look. Since they haven't talked as much, she doesn't feel quite right pressing on the topic. Perhaps someone who she's closer to will be able to do that.]

I'm just looking at the needles and what look like knives. Are these for surgeries?

[She's read about them, but never really seen them.]
