Week 3.

WEEK 3 Another week has passed; two more Survivors are gone. Pearl and Caren both had someone to fight for, someone worth killing for; perhaps it's for the best to hope that somehow they've found peace despite not being able to collect on the Kingmaker's incentive. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. That doesn't mean the night passed easily, though - it seems another piece of your personal puzzle may have fallen into place while you slept... Following that spiral staircase up to the second floor will reveal something strange; those stairs definitely lead far higher than you remember, up to a previously inaccessible third floor. [ It's a change--but it's a nice one. His mood is almost infectious, even after that dream she'd had. Besides, who can stay down when there are blueberry pancakes? ]

You seem to be in a good mood this morning.

That was two hundred years ago, Miss Misa.

[He's calm, still. There's no desperation to prove his innocence in his voice.

What would be the point?]

I know you have no reason to believe me, but I haven't done that sort of thing for a long, long time. It doesn't make up for what I've done - it never will - but I've lived a peaceful life since then.

I didn't lie to you. The people here... are people I want to see go free, back to their own homes and families. Even you.

Even if you hate me for the rest of your life, I still want you to be safe.

[He starts putting his cards away, neatly.

This conversation is probably close to over.]

Two hundred years or two hundred seconds, you're still guilty as sin in my eyes. Still the worst kind of person...

[ She wants to believe him. But there's so much blood on his hands... ]

You've lived a peaceful life. The kind of life that the families of the people you murdered can never have now, because you slayed them because that was your idea of a good time...

[ She's going to be sick. That many lives, she can't even put a value on it. How can you make amends for that?

A person like him deserves a heart attack. And yet, here he stands. ]

What made you stop?

My wife.

[That's a question he can almost smile at. Almost.]

I fell in love with a much better person than myself, who would never allow me to even think about harming someone unjustly. If I had to give up that kind of lifestyle for her - so be it. That's the easiest choice in the world to make.

...Good afternoon.

[He rises from his chair.]

[ She...sort of figured that was the case.

God dammit. She just shakes her head and rises from her own. She doesn't know how she can even stand after that, and yet, here she is. ]

...As disgusted as I am with you...your secret's safe with me.

[That went... badly. And yesterday went even worse.

Cherryblod is visibly in poor spirits throughout all of Monday. He spends much of the time after the meeting in the kitchen, aggressively baking - today's menu seems to be mostly brownies. Have some if you like.

He also spends time in the art room, drawing sea life as well as pictures of humanoids. Mostly his daughter, in that case. His art is okay, but nothing to write home about - it gets the impression across.

Finally, he spends much of the evening in the music hall, messing with the piano. It's clear that he really doesn't know how to play it, judging by the way that he's plucking out random notes, but it's something to do with his hands, and something to do with his brain other than reflect.]

[Time to leave and do literally anything other than think about how badly that went.]

Some parts of the one I had didn't make sense. I wish I could say more, but...

Misa-Misa...was at a job interview, with the Yotsuba Corporation. They're a big business association, and they were looking for a new spokesperson...and while I was there, I met with a friend on my way to the restroom. But I didn't recognize my friend, even though I should have...so we were reacquainted, and she told me some...interesting information about the Kira case.

[ That's...probably the best way to put it without getting too much into specifics. ]

A-ah! Misa-Misa didn't think about that possibility! So, um...having both a night patrol and a curfew kind of clashes, doesn't it?

[isafraid]

....Then again, putting it out there that you are hiding something just begs to make itself known.

[He crosses his arms.] Should watch out for that.

[cherryblooded]

...Sorry.

[It's guilt cropping up, he guesses.

He's usually better about that.]

Art Room

[Stan, on the other hand, has been visibly pleased with himself since Sunday! At least someone is happy!

As such, he's not occupying himself quite as much with his punching-bag yeti. He wanders into the art room with the vague thought of doing something else, and pauses to look over Cherryblod's shoulder.]

Is that your kid?

[cherryblooded]

[At least someone here is.]

That's my Lobco.

[He doesn't seem as excited about showing her picture off as he normally would be, but he does smile a little bit.]

No sense in apologizing to me.

[He already accepts, Cherryblod.]

Hm. [Stan's certainly not riding high enough to not notice that.] She's cute.

[...okay, normally he's not really here to chat about feelings with people. But y'know...bein' locked in a murder vault is pretty different from normal.]

You okay?

[cherryblooded]

Just fine.

[It's an automatic reaction, and he doesn't even think about saying it, which is why a second later, he adds:] ...Maybe not.

Sounds like it. I wanted to be an actor for a while when I was a kid! Pretty sure everyone does.

Yeah?

[Stan starts to gather up some drawing materials of his own, but he doesn't look like he's leaving. It's an open invitation to continue. Because...well, he seems in a worse mood than after the trial, and what's happened since that?]

[cherryblooded]

...I actually did try what Mettaton suggested at the meeting, yesterday. Tell someone my secret so it can't be used against me by the Kingmaker.

It went badly.

...Probably why I said what I did at the meeting. Guilt makes you say stupid things.

Misa-Misa wanted to be a mermaid, actually! You would probably make a cool actor, though! There are lots of really good older men who still make it big in the acting business overseas! Like Clint Eastwood!

art room

[isafraid]

[The meeting was... a meeting alright. Speedwagon couldn't bring himself to say just how much good had come of it yet. They seemed to be on the right track, at least, with a few bumps in the road. Whatever those meant...

He stops in the art room for once, noticing Cherryblod hard at work, and it's only when he gets closer that he sees what he's working on.]

...Drawing your family, then?

[cherryblooded]

That's right.

[His smile is weak, but at least it's a smile.]

This is my daughter, Lobco.

Well, considering I've got no faith in your ability to do what I'm doing here and everything else seems a little out of your range [drums just feel like a mistake] I'd have to say that you should pick up one of the simple flutes. They'll be a good fit for all the air you blow.

[Having lung endurance is nice, okay. Mouri just has enough of it for ten people.]

I know how to play that one too, I just like this one better.

music room

[You know how fun it is to watch someone do a dance with no music? Very. You know what's even more fun?

Making some music for them.

Since Sigrun's hanging in the music room too, she's going to be doing the latter after gathering a rhythm from his movements the best she can. A lyre's not the best instrument to do airy stuff on for her, but she'll work it!!! Especially with that aggression!! Even if it's a totally different melody from whatever Mettaton's going at.

Listen. She's already gonna be doing something for him tonight, might as well make fun of his moves now.]

[isafraid]

Lobco... right, you made mention of her once. [He nods.] Well, she has your looks, I can say that.

[And only partly the looks of a lobster. But that's... besides the point.]

Are you alright?
