And once the allotted time for investigating comes to a close, those elevator doors slide open at the end of the first-floor corridor, offering another of those fast, smooth rides down to that black void of a courtroom Twelve out of the original twenty-seven are dead; there are four less of you present for this trial than there were last week. That's incredibly obvious as soon as the doors slide open and the podium circle comes into view where it's encircling that dark pit in the center of the room; Norman, the King, Tarrlok, and Lynne have joined the deceased, photographs in greyscale watching the proceedings from their podiums draped in black. Of course and as always, the Kingmaker is watching too; he waits until everyone is settled at their podiums to begin speaking, though it's still impossible to tell exactly where his voice is coming from. "Assured and Perceiving have been taken from you. You guys are really getting excited, aren't you? Two people dead in one night... Whether the guilty party succeeds or not, though, is up to the rest of you." Fifteen Survivors remain. However many will be down by the end of the day is up to you.

Okay, let's see if we got a timeline settled out. We know Tarrlok probably died first, also that with the note his murder was probably pre-planned. But why kill two people? The glitter was on Tarrlok AND the chemicals, so we can probably assume it's one killer. That's just move evidence to hide when you only need one kill to escape.

I think someone mentioned the idea already but what if Lynne stumbled on the body early?. That would explain why the body is laid out so nice. Like she was examining them. Also why her body was hidden so sloppily- the killer might have had to improvise in a hurry.

I mentioned that about Lynne, yes! And it's still my first guess for what happened. Though I don't know why she had to die, if she just stumbled across the body...?

Maybe they weren't done hiding all their evidence? Hell, I'd probably try to clean off all the glitter if I had the time. I mean, a lot of us were glittered but only a few of us had enough to do that much transfer.

It's a bit hard to get that much glitter off of anything, sweetheart, and if there was that much transfer they'd be there all night trying. But that's a good point anyway.

Heh true. By that point they'd have been better off just stripping him.

Maybe she saw the killer still outta bed and they panicked.

Yeah, exactly. If the killer was expecting us all to sleep in due to the party they probably didn't even try to hide what they were doing.

Maybe she stumbled across the killer, too? [ Hummm. ] Getting rid of the witness would be the first idea anyone'd have.

...aside from that, she's one of our two capable detectives. They were probably worried about her being able to solve this in no time.

She was a good bit of help in the other trials. Even if we don't know how, it must be fortunate to the murderer that she's gone.

But if that's the case, then the killer would have to drag Lynne all the way upstairs to the fifth floor from the first! And also kill her in this weird way no one can quite determine just yet...

Not if they attacked her and she made a run for it. We don't really know where she died yet after all, and if she yelled none of us could hear her anyways.

Right, we don't. We just know there was water, and she was burned by that bleach.

...Are we even sure why the bleach was there?

All I can think is that the bleach was used to destroy something on her body. I couldn't find anything though.

Oh, I get it! Okay, okay, with that, then, here's Misa-Misa's theory. So the killer pushed Tarrlok down the stairs. Then Lynne, on the first floor, found the body and started to investigate. And the killer's hiding upstairs! So Lynne sees the killer in the middle of her investigation, and there's a chase all the way up to the dojo! And that's where stuff happened! Does that seem believable?

Maybe. Like a struggle? But Lynne didn't have a scratch on her- she wasn't super big, but a cop would know how to defend herself. I doubt someone could have subdued her unless it was a blitz attack. And then the dojo wouldn't be wreaked like it was.

She could have found out who had killed Tarrlok-san. Whether it was an accident or not didn't matter, the culprit would be executed either way.

...it is possible the culprit panicked and killed Lynne-san in an attempt to cover their tracks.

We also can't forget the burned remains found in the incinerator, if the note said Tarrlok-san had suffered an accident - which may be true, his death could have been an accident - and Lynne-san went to investigate...

[In other words, he still suspects of Misa, as much as he dislikes that train of thought]

There's no other real explanation for killing two people- if they were after detectives they might have tried for you or Bruce too. So most likely Lynne showed up on accident.

But even if she was lured out it comes to the same ending.

[ Well, Misa certainly doesn't like the idea of being suspected, so... ]

So, we're looking for a piece of paper with my handwriting on it, that has at least the words "Tarrlok" and "accident" on it? That's what was in the incinerator, right?

If detective Lynne did indeed find the body early, then why was the announcement not sounded for the rest of us?

That's usually how it goes, doesn't it? Somebody finds a body, and the rest of us are informed.
