WEEK 4 Three more have died this past week. Milla Maxwell was killed for breaking a rule, Chiyuki was murdered, and you all had a hand in executing Yoshikage Kira. It seems like this isn't going to stop any time soon. How many more will join them this week? Saturday is given to regrouping and rest; on Sunday morning the clock chimes as it always has, but at least there are no bodies to find today. It seems you're safe for now. The night before wasn't necessarily a peaceful one, however; you'll probably feel a bit groggy when you wake up, and it seems you've regained something that you didn't realize you'd lost... Despite the Wordsmith's reaction to the last trial, it seems as though you've been rewarded once again for a job that was...well, it was done, even if he didn't explicitly say it was well-done. Another door has opened in that stairway, it seems, leading you further down into the building; once again, there are more rooms down there, more things to occupy yourselves with. Well, no, but I wouldn't think he would go this far. I would like to ask why he is doing this, however, I know if asked, he won't give a straightforward answer.

I brought this instead, but it's not as good as food. [ Rpg pockets are at work because he pulls out the sakura bouquet he got from the vending machine. He knows from the samurai netherworlds that the flower is common among swordmasters, so he's taking a guess here. Also he saw the pin Mikazuki was wearing earlier, so that helps too.

Well, I'm sure that means more to you than it does to me. A thousand years is an awfully long time for humans!

I've...already a way to try again, in some sense. And I know, through that, that having just one attempt would end in failure. What the Wordsmith offers... It's nothing foolproof.

But, I am quite curious now, when was it exactly you began to hold such a title? I imagine it was after another time of victorious triumph?

I've been working very hard to make a name for myself - preferably one that will have the Ylisseans shaking in their boots! It's been a bit less successful than I had hoped, however, since they were apparently fine with letting my men cross their borders and set their towns ablaze.

Alright. Lilligant takes a breath, makes an inward count to three...and plops right in! ...It's a little scary at first because it takes a little bit for her to come up, but it's. Fine? Actually fine, even if it's kind of new.

Lusamine comes out soon after changing, and seems to pause when she sees Lilligant in the pool.]

I mean, there are a few small ones. Cutiefly and Joltik are... about this big?

But those are kind of an outlier. They're usually bigger than your hand, at the very least.

Heh. That's life for us humans, I suppose. Death is an inevitability - even if you aren't killed in battle, you'll fall one day. Disease or old age will take you, even if nothing else can. That's not something any human can escape.

I can certainly see where it's pointless. But it's in human nature to fight for what we want, no matter how pointless it seems.

[That's probably the kindest thing he's ever said about humans before. It's a little strange to think about.]

In the end we're selfish creatures just clawing to get what we want in our allotted time. Sometimes we succeed, sometimes we don't. I plan on being one of the few who do everything they set out to do before I die.
