Week 3.
Another week has passed; two more Survivors are gone. Pearl and Caren both had someone to fight for, someone worth killing for; perhaps it's for the best to hope that somehow they've found peace despite not being able to collect on the Kingmaker's incentive. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. That doesn't mean the night passed easily, though - it seems another piece of your personal puzzle may have fallen into place while you slept... Following that spiral staircase up to the second floor will reveal something strange; those stairs definitely lead far higher than you remember, up to a previously inaccessible third floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; consider it your reward for a job well done. |

So, I was talking to Bruce last night about this, but-
-we've all pretty much guessed that the Pearl we saw probably wasn't real. So that means the Kingmaker might... be able to copy any of us. Or even people we know from our homes.
[The implications aren't said. He doesn't want to SAY 'Pearl and Caren might have died for a lie'. It's too cruel]
So... it might be a good idea to not trust anything he offers us after this. Even if it's right there and we can see it. Okay?

[Well, now he's doubly glad he didn't act on that motive. It probably shows that he's ashamed to have even considered it, now.
Just keep thinking that your world is fine, Cherryblod. It'll get you through eventually.]
You're right. He's not reliable for any reason. Certainly not for anything worth killing twenty people over.

[There's just no way that they're all really gone.]

[As terrible as it is, it probably needs to be said.
And Bruce has been thinking of a few other things with that train of thought... but its best to not voice them out at this time.]

[It is rather frustrating.]
At this point, its one of the more plausible ideas with what we know. It's something to keep in mind, at the very least.

I'd claim special effects of some sort, but they're better at the whole "killing people" thing than any special effects I've ever seen.

I'll get back to you on which I end up liking best.

I actually asked the Kingmaker about the incentive he gave us last week. He said it wouldn't been a very effective promise if he couldn't deliver on it. That could follow your copy theory, but... [ BUT... ]
...when I asked him how he'd manage it, he mentioned that he couldn't tell me the exact method, but that "time is an obstacle that can be overcome." [ He's reading off his phone, actually--the conversation is new enough for this. ] He alluded to the fact most of us are from different years all together to support that, too.
[ he ain't sayin' the kingmaker's a time traveler but
look. we've had vampires and mermaids already, let's suspend our disbelief a little longer. ]
He could be lying, but I'm inclined to give him the benefit of the doubt. There's weirder things that exist in my own world than whatever he might be fibbing with.

He pulls back from the table, crossing his arms and tucking his feet up onto the chair- looking like a hedgehog curling into a ball of defensive sulking]
I don't know. But sue me for looking for an explanation outside what that bastard is feeding us. I'm... not just going to accept this.

Why wouldn't he be willing to divulge the method? I'd think it'd make him more believable if he had.

[And that interpretation can cause a lot of... miscommunication. Which certainly isn't helpful.]

There's barely a reason that would have motivated Speedwagon to do the deed Caren did, but that bothers him to a degree he hadn't even considered.
Truth will always be hidden in these instances, it was up to them to find it.]
It's likely, and possible altogether since we've seen that sort of thing happen with our very eyes. [as strange as it is to admit.] We had Pearl with us - or, what's left of her - when that other Pearl attacked Caren.

...Things around here could always get stranger, right?
