Week 6.

WEEK 6
The number of Survivors left is dropping at a quick pace; the King got what he wanted, for better or for worse; Tarrlok and Lynne were victims of both fate and some sort of magic that most in the Vault still don't quite understand, and Misa Amane has been executed, not for her particular brand of "justice", but for murdering two innocent people.

It's been a bad week.

However, Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not...

Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible sixth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you've done well. You've earned it.

[Someday Cherryblod's going to meet Sigrun's friends and regale them with stories about how cute their captain can be.]

He'll adore it especially because it's from you, but go on. What's the second part?

[They won't believe the "cute" part until they actually see it, because there is nothing cute about a woman who has no qualms with bashing and ribbing the injured... until you get her flustered, apparently.]

I... am going to do a datey thing for him. Like, a nice one. Maybe. Since he likes nice dates. And they remind him of the nice fancy place he owned back where he's from. I'll do it in the music room since we both like it there, and then I'll give him a box of these and... I don't know. Something good will happen?

[She might have more news for Misa? The box is actually going to be something she's working on later tonight, too, Extra Special.]

But I'm not doing it like, candles and stuff. And no food. Just... you know. Hanging out.

[If he were in a better mood in general, and a better mood about Mettaton in specific, he might actually be sparkling right about now. Still, this is enough to make him really smile.]

He'll love it, I'm sure. You don't need candles or food to have a wonderful date.

Well, I hope so. He seems to be pretty happy no matter what we do as long as we're both having a good time.

Sooo. Any real reason for you to come in here, or did you just want to make fun of me? Because I'm really feeling strong on the second.

[Read: his mood is absolute shit and Sigrun is one of his favorite people here, so he thought visiting her might help him out a little.]

There's so not a difference. [gods have mercy] Anyway, do you want to learn how to make one of these? Or maybe a star? I can do those too, it's like tradition around winter. I taught teach the first week here how to do them.

I could have somebody cast a spell on them to keep them from getting wet. We do that all the time with paper messages from other kingdoms.

Then that's perfect! What colors do you want?

I don't know what colors my family's souls are, so let's just pick orange for me and red for them.

[She'll let go of him to get the papers, cutting out the u-shapes and the lines appropriately for each color. And she can show him how to weave with her own white-orange one.]

In and out, not over and under. You can pretty much make these any size, but these are big enough that they're not hard to make and small enough that they're not like, really hard to hide-- I mean, uh, they don't take up a lot of space.

Right. Of course, for storage reasons only.

[He believes her not one bit.

He's paying close attention to what she's doing, though. He's going to make them right, because they are For His Family and thus they must be perfect.]

... Do you really think he'll like it more just because it's from me? I mean, he, uh, he thanked me really embarrassingly once, like it was some big deal that I just had some spare time and did a few things for him, but you know?

[Because damn if you get her on the topic of her punchy feelings she's just gonna end up going back to it with certain people, even knowing they're not having the best of times right now. Cherryblod's her source since Misa's gone now.]

[They may not be having the best of times, but that doesn't mean Cherryblod can fall down on the job of support. And he is the one best equipped to give relationship advice.

Well, Kogoro's married too, but really...]

I know he will. ...Hm, think of it this way - if you got a gift from someone you barely knew, it'd be weird, wouldn't it? If not a little creepy. You might still use it if it was a practical gift, but it wouldn't mean a lot to you.

Gifts are usually at least as much about sentiment as they are about the object itself. They're about somebody thinking of you and taking the time to get or make something they know you'll like.

[That detective's got no game, honestly.

And... okay. That makes Sigrun a little squirmy. Let her quietly focus on her weaving while she struggles not to die inside. Let her get her Feelings together to try and word things.]

He always gets me a bunch of practical things. I just give him pretty things. [...] I mean, he's done plenty of other things too, so it's not like it's not balanced or whatever, and... I know I'm one of the people he trusts most of all, which is really saying something, and I'm the only one that's... uh. Well, I've seen his soul. And touched it.

[... So... Yeah... Her voice drops a little lower now.]

He makes me feel the same way that a troll hunt does. I kind of want to tell him that? But I don't know if I really want to, since... I kind of already told him I liked him anyway, so what's the point, right? He likes me back though. I definitely know that.

I would tell him, but I'm the type who's constantly affectionate anyway - you know that about me by now. If you think it's too embarrassing, then save it for some other time, but I'm sure he'd like hearing it since he knows what hunting trolls is to you.

[It's probably the sincerest form of affection.]

He definitely likes you back. That's not even in question here.

If he's not talking about himself, he's definitely talking about you. So yes.

What an embarrassing asshole! But he just says things so naturally and normal like it's nothing! Still pisses me off.

[Even if it's one of the things, honestly, that has made her pretty comfortable in just slipping into liking these weird punchy feelings and all. If one of them can be vaguely normal about it then she can follow the lead.]

Love's-- too strong! It really is! I mean I absolutely love my job and all, but the love you're talking about is probably really different!
