Week 3.

WEEK 3 Another week has passed; two more Survivors are gone. Pearl and Caren both had someone to fight for, someone worth killing for; perhaps it's for the best to hope that somehow they've found peace despite not being able to collect on the Kingmaker's incentive. Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. That doesn't mean the night passed easily, though - it seems another piece of your personal puzzle may have fallen into place while you slept... Following that spiral staircase up to the second floor will reveal something strange; those stairs definitely lead far higher than you remember, up to a previously inaccessible third floor. [...Okay, but how does fire work underwater, anyway?

That dream was unpleasant, but even more unpleasant is waking up to find that there's another floor - they really are being rewarded for killing people. After he gets over his grumbling, Cherryblod spends the day exploring, as anyone should.

The laundry room is a pleasant sight - thank goodness for actual washing machines, right? He grabs a piece of paper from his Ubiquitous Notebook and writes down basic instructions for how to use the machines here, which he sets on top of the washer so that even people who predate these things know not to mix in their whites.

The music hall is nice, but he's not particularly musically gifted. He'll poke around a bit, being careful with the instruments. If someone's playing something, he's much more likely to stick around.

The game room, though. That he's happy to see.]

[Oh hey, Cherryblod. Mouri waves courteously]

I'm not really into chess, thank you. I'm just checking around to see what we got this time.

[A game room, huh. It doesn't seem like Mouri will have much use for it, he is not into games. Those require patience and he is not patient at all]

No? Too bad. It's good exercise for the brain.

[But he's not the pushy type.]

Anything else catch your eye?

[Mouri looks around again. The Go grid gets his attention for a moment, but it isn't like he is itching to play that]

Not really. I'm not somebody who spends a lot of time playing games, usually I'm too busy for that.

[Except for gambling. One is never too busy for gambling]

Chances are at some point I'll be bored enough to try anything here, though.

[Mettaton will wander upstairs eventually; it's not necessarily early when he does so, but he seems to be doing well enough.

...Honestly, the game room wouldn't normally interest him too much, but he and Cherryblod were just discussing this recently, and he'd be lying if he said he wasn't pleased to see it too, given that context.]

[Cherryblod's face lights up when Mettaton agrees. He'd been looking forward to playing with him, especially.]

[Yes, he knows, white moves first, something something statistical advantages, he doesn't particularly care - chess isn't explicitly one of his talents, but it's something he's acceptable at if for no better reason than 'there is a literal computational device in his head', and even if Cherryblod utterly kicks his ass he's here for the challenge of it, really.]

[Cherryblod's not going to argue with him - he just sits down at the side of the table with the white pieces and starts setting up.]

It's been a while since I've played against anyone other than Doloz or Tatsumiya, actually.

Sure! I'll warn you, though, I'm not that great at chess.

Aren't you leader of your school's game club?

[How can you not be good at chess??]

...I worked my way up from the bottom. I lost all the time in the beginning, surprisingly. [ Punishments are good motivation. ]

There's only a few games I haven't had a chance to master, and chess is one of them. I'm sure I can with a little practice, though.

[Bruce has come here as well with the intention to do pretty much the same thing, but it seems like Cherryblod has beaten him to the punch.]

Guess we don't need to worry about laundry day any more. [Says this with a rather wry tone (and an equally wry smile).]

Wonder why we need two laundry rooms - and why he didn't just give us washing machines to start with. Did we have to earn them?

It's not something I'd like to dwell on too much myself, either.

At least I can wear my suit more often now. About half my wardrobe is maid dresses - I was starting to get concerned I'd be traumatizing people every day.

Misa-Misa is definitely not a strategy game person! I'm much better at games of chance. But I do know the rules! Chess is Light's favorite..!

I'm so bad, though, compared to him. He can beat me with his eyes closed...

Alright. I just want you to know - even though the last two culprits had something in common with you, it doesn't mean that you're going to kill someone, and it doesn't mean that we're going to let everyone suspect you for no reason. Alright?
