Week 6.

WEEK 6 The number of Survivors left is dropping at a quick pace; the King got what he wanted, for better or for worse; Tarrlok and Lynne were victims of both fate and some sort of magic that most in the Vault still don't quite understand, and Misa Amane has been executed, not for her particular brand of "justice", but for murdering two innocent people. It's been a bad week. However, Saturday is given to regrouping and sleep; there aren't any bodies to be found on Sunday morning. But that doesn't mean the night was uneventful - it seems something else may have brought you some newfound clarity. Or perhaps not... Once again, that spiral staircase leads farther than you remember, clear up to a previously inaccessible sixth floor. Go ahead and explore as much as you like; you've done well. You've earned it. [Kogoro Mouri needs a distraction. That's why he has declared this week the week Kogoro Mouri will try to be a better man...at least in case everything back home goes to hell and he finds himself as a disgraced detective.

In the morning you may find him in the kitchen, with several recipes Aqua was so kind to give him, and trying to follow all instructions. The kitchen isn't looking too bad, there's a burned lump on a side but what's on the stove right now seems good...although a bit lacking in the flavor department. It seems to be some sort of vegetable dish.

In the afternoon you may find him in the sewing room. He has taken several pieces of fabric and cotton, trying to create something like the teddy bears Black had been making so long ago. He has a book from the library about the topic, and he has progressed half into it. It is not bad for a first attempt, but it would be better if the head of the bear weren't upside-down. Also his fingers are completely covered in bandages by now. Ouch.

Finally, in the evening, he is in the music room, with the flute. His lessons with Sigrun has been going surprisingly smoothly, and he is trying to play simple tunes. It is...not bad! He can keep the rhythm and although there are a few bad notes from time to time, it isn't something bad to listen to. Don't ask him to read music sheets, though, he knows nothing about that]

Kitchen

[Cherryblod only came in to make breakfast for himself, but Kogoro's occupying the room right now, and after their last discussion, well...

He's hovering in the doorway, unsure whether or not he's allowed to approach or if it would even be a good idea.]

[It takes a moment for Mouri to notice Cherryblod. It has been three days since Mouri knew about Cherryblod's true past. The frustration felt at first is gone by now, replaced by resignation]

Come in, Cherryblod-san.

I think I owe you an apology.

[Now that, Cherryblod didn't expect, and it shows in the way his eyes go wide before he enters the kitchen.]

I don't think you do.

[He's just going to busy himself making breakfast while Kogoro talks, excuse him.]

I won't ever approve what you did in the past, and frankly I don't think I'll ever think of you like I did before.

That doesn't mean I should have shouted at you like I did. We're in a place where we can't afford to this kind of dissent or the Kingmaker will take advantage of it in any way possible.

[In other words, Mouri is more or less conceding to Cherryblod's presence because there's no other option. It is not a sign of friendship, it's more to avoid giving the Kingmaker any weapons than anything else]

In that case, I accept your apology. Don't intend to give the Kingmaker any ammunition, myself.

[He'd been trying to avoid that.]

I also have to praise your bravery for revealing your past despite knowing it could make you a target.

At least I hope you did know you were putting yourself in danger.

[Thank you? Mouri hasn't thought he has such quality. During all these years he has boasted about many things but his integrity is something he had never thought about]

Sewing Room

[Bruce is here as well, to just do... things to keep himself occupied, to be entirely honest. And he still hasn't finished the shit he started on weeks ago because of everything else happening.

Mouri is pretty much one of the last people he expected to see here, so there's a pause when he sees the detective in there, not certain if he should intrude or not.]

[Mouri is welcome to intrusions! That's why he is waving at you with his heavily bandaged hand. Ignore the blood on it, please]

Do you need anything, Bruce-san?

[Usually Bruce is not the one to approach Mouri, so he is kind of surprised]

No, I was just...

[He trails off and sees the bandages on Mouri's hands, frowning.]

Are you alright?

I'm okay. I just hurt myself with the needle a couple dozen times. It's no big deal.

That's what happens when one tries to do something one knows nothing about. I'm sure others would have it worse.

[No they wouldn't. Mouri is just that unlucky when it's about learning new skills]

[Mouri you have bandages everywhere that is not a good thing.]

...I should probably look over them, just to be sure.

...if that is what you want then I suppose we should get done with it as soon as possible.

[In other words go ahead, Bruce. Not that you'll find much. Like Mouri said, there are a lot of pricking wounds, not even all of them are bleeding.

It is good there's a doctor in the Vault, though]

[Bruce comes into the room now at least, taking out the medical supplies that he keeps with him and places them onto the table as he settles down next to Mouri.]

Stretch out your hand and spread your fingers.

[Mouri obeys, leaving the botched teddy bear aside. He is just going to let you do your thing, you know more about medical stuff than he knows]

[...Well. You know, of all people he could have run into here, he wasn't expecting Mouri, but it's not like he's going to complain, either.]

You know, somehow you didn't strike me as the sort...? Consider me surprised.

I'm not the sort of person who plays instruments. I only started to play the flute a couple weeks ago.

I'm still not sure how I let Eide-san convince me to do it, it just happened.

[She sort of tends to steamroll everyone. Not that that's a bad thing.]

It is something I like of her! You can expect her to push you out of your zone of comfort and that is good at times.

I'm sure you'll know more than me about that. You're her boyfriend, I bet she has all type of plans for you.

[Besides taking you to her world, that is. Life with Sigrun Eide is guaranteed to be filled with adventures]

She's objectively the best. What can I say - I'm a lucky person.

I still can't believe you and she managed to somehow find the time for romance in this place. I would have thought the threat of murder and all that would keep people from getting too attached to others.

[All Mouri has is friends, although he also considers Yosuke an apprentice of sorts, even if Yosuke doesn't know it]

[And that...strikes him oddly, but he'll move past it quickly enough.]

Don't worry too much about that, sweetheart, I've had to cut people off before.

If something happens to her, I'll get through it somehow. I won't be happy about it, but it's nothing I can't handle.
